Gotta agree there person of dubious heritage. It's a pity, although, historically we don't seem to place as much emphasis on our military heritage, other than ANZAC Day. At least reading this thread, if ever I get the chance to visit the Mother Country will defiantly look up some of these pubs.

The Osborne View, Fareham. Lots in there about the Cockleshell Heros. It was apparently their 'local' whilst training.

(Anyone knowing the geography of the area may see this and have a wry smile)

White Hart, Brasted in Kent was the Biggin Hill watering hole during the Battle of Britain. It used to have plenty of memorabilia, including a black board signed by many of the pilots. There's even a book about it. Sadly, a glance at their website suggests the board has migrated to the BofB museum in Shoreham.

The Ensign Ewart on The Royal Mile (I think) in Edinburgh - named after Sgt Ewart of the Royal Scots greys who captured a French eagle at Waterloo.

The Valiant Soldier in Bridgwater, Somerset has a portrait of Field Marshal Lord Harding of Petherton on it's sign.
In Memory of 1411 Rfn AB Johnson, 1/5 London Regiment (London Rifle Brigade). Posted as 'Missing, Presumed Killed' on 1 July 1916 at Gommecourt and remembered on the Thiepval Memorial.

"the Volunteer Rifleman's Arms" in Bath. There is also "The Warrant officer" in Walthamstow.
"The Intelligence officer - or non-commissioned officer - with his enquiring mind, his refusal to accept everything at face value, and with his interest in what has happened limited to the help it will be in in estimating what is going to happen, is "different", and therefore still, to a certain extent, suspect."

So crap it closed in January.
I write down everything I want to remember. That way, instead of spending a lot of time trying to remember what it is I wrote down, I spend the time looking for the paper I wrote it down on.
