Re: Family Military Photos
Badge certainly looks like Lancs. Picture of it here, along with apotted history of the Regiment, they seem to have had the knack of being in the thick of it!

Re: Family Military Photos
Thanks to you all...I uploaded the photo to the great war site as advised and they feel it is great war era and Lancs Regiment.
I may aswell complete the story and show you the other two photos I have.
Below is Thomas Toole (b1902), my father-in-law's Grandfather (second from right):

And Lawrence Toole (b1926 Salford, Lancs) my Father-in-law's father (back row second from right). On the reverse of the photo it says Lawrence aged 18, so I make it 1944. He served in Africa apparently.

Any ideas on the uniforms ?

Re: Family Military Photos
Both pictures show wartime battledress early and late war, plus denim bd. The 1944 date would be correct.

Re: Family Military Photos
Had a parcel turn up yesterday off my folks with a few pictures of my Grandad from his army days as they have been clearing out a load of stuff that was left after he died a few years back. I can remember him telling me tales of the things he got up to with the Ox and Bucks including getting caught up in an airraid on the Hercules cycle factory in Birmingham where he was blown across the road and into the canal whilst he was home on leave, amongst other tales. But he didnt talk much about the time he spent in Burma
Anyway heres the first one
this one I think was coloured by my grandad after the war

and this I think was taken in Burma

Re: Family Military Photos
And another one. Don't know when it was taken but he has the Africa Star ribbon up with numeral denoting a 1st Army clasp - anyone got ideas of when this would have been dished out?
