I'm not very good at judging shades of colours (what bloke is?), but isn't this a better match for the riband colours?
The Irish United Nations Veterans Association Service Medal riband (reversed) with the Sierra Leone Independance Medal 1961 (plated copy) slung underneath (?)
"Hurrah for the Works Group" just doesn't have the same ring...
"A volunteer is worth ten pressed men."
So, a TA battalion or nine Regular Guards battalions? Not a difficult choice, then (especially as we don't have nine Regular Guards battalions).
Sorry - what's the second to last on the right? The one with the gold central stripe?
ACSM - Accumulated Campaign Service Medal. 1080 days deployed Operational service.
Wrong colour ribbon then
Is your monitor broke?
Either that or my eyes are, theres no purple - well I can't see it perhaps its time for an eye test or a new monitor
Specsavers for you me lad.
Send me all the 'green' notes in your wallet and I'll give you a fiver each for them
Just had the missus check it and your all correct, its purple, but from where I'm sat its blue (I sh*t you not) but upon moving it's purple, Phillips monitor +my eyes = shite.
Thank feck for that I thought I'd just gone colour blind!

You're right , the green you can see is the ACSM ribbon, although unless you can come up with another medal, it is most likely green underneath.

Thanks for your help. I am glad that my knowledge was not that far off, except that logic got in the way and spoiled it. I think you are right about the incorrect medal: the group includes the OSM Sierra Leone, so it would not be a surprise that he received the medal for the BMATT. I assume it is an LI group because of the double Bosnia and Sierra Leone combination.
Yes, Sierra Leone Independence Medal. Apparently given to selected members of IMATT. I believe that Lt Gen Jon Riley (late RWF) was in command at the time and hr recommended other deserving souls for receipt of said gong. I understand that the rationale for being allowed to wear it was that permission was granted at the time of independence. Piccies attached - hopefully.
