Yes, but being the army, nothing is ever that straightforward!!!;
The Highland Regiments,( A&SH, Gordons and so on..) also wore trews on occasion.
The Royal Highland Fusiliers being a Lowland regiment, wore trews (apart from pipers)!
Agreed...but rarely. If I remember correctly, worn after 1800 in cold weather, and only on the order of the commanding officer. I think it would have been very rare to see a Gordon in trews
QRH do as well but tend to wear the "green suit" instead.
What is this suit?
A suit in emerald green (probably has a technical colour term but I don't know it). It has turn ups on trousers and sleeves, and gold buttons. They wear it to dinner every night with any shirt and any bow tie, except Thursdays (IIRC) when they wear it with dress shirt and black bow tie. Apparently at the Adjutant's suit inspection the test of a good fit is if you can get a champagne bottle in each of the jacket pockets.
Pipers of 4th (Border) Bn The King's Own Scottish Borderers wore kilts of the Buccleuch (or Shepherds Plaid) tartan (all other KOSB Bn's pipers wore Royal Stewart). Another tartan 'lost' due to the evisceration of the Scottish infantry over the years.
