Swale arms had ladys night on mondays, fucked if i could find Lady/woman/trog in there! The other pub (we'er talking late 80's here) was colburn lodge, pad hang out, always a good place to find the loney pads wife. There was also a wine bar accross from DKMH, a bit shit but had a few QAs to abuse, and generally the haunt of Medical types. Scorpians used to have 2 for the price of one on wensday. I always remember the cheeky fcukers used to put the price of beer up by the hour! and that was for minging hoffymister!

    good days

The 'Scorpion ' and 'Staxx' were the same place. Irrespective, it's been knocked down and LIDL have built a pikey store on it.

I'm f*cked if I can remember what the SWALE is called now. It'll come to me about 3 o'clock in the morning. There is a bar along the street from it called Jesters. Apparantly it's a real dive, but very entertaining in a fisticuffs stylee.

As for the 'BIG BEN', I thought that I'd be able to find it but couldn't. Should've got tanked up before I went, I'd probably have found it straight away.

What was it about Belgian squaddies ? Every place I ever came into contact with them, we had a boxing match. Usually as a result of one of them thinking that he was 'Rocky' and getting slapped down by the some 5ft 2ins Brit. They were obnoxious tw*ts. The Jerries liked them though.

There was a little disco in Geseke, down the B1 from Soest, where they f*cking hated Brits. They'd let you in all right, so as they had something to attack later on when they were pissed. I got chased out of there by a gang of krauts shouting something about Dresden one night. I couldn't translate everything they said, but I got the point pretty quickly. Never ran so fast for so far in my life. It was definately a sub 9 BFT pace. C*nts came after us in cars as well.

We were certainly popular in Germany in the 80's.

    I'm on a roll here.

Anybody remember the 'London Pub' in PAderborn? It was owned by a a chick called Zita, who apparantly is the owner of the 'Savoy' in Paderborn town centre.

What about the 'Gute Denkmal' (known as 'the shack') in Minden?

Ah, the '80s. Russians for enemies, God awful fashions, great music, getting the sh*t kicked out of you by gangs of spiks, no political correctness.....
    .......happy days!

‘Once we were overpopulated. And we found that the more people there were, the more they were the same.
It was the only way we could survive. People had always dreamed of a unified world. We thought it would be a richer one. It wasn’t.
It meant that the Eskimo got educated and learned cost accountancy, but it didn’t mean the German learned to hunt whales with a spear.
It meant that everyone learned how to press buttons, but no one remembered how to dive for pearls.’

How about the Hollywood in PB/Senne?

Remember the GO Park in Herford too - but don't remember the bouncers ever being bothered about being able to speak Boxhead.
The Half-wit formerly known as Hitlerwasabitnaughty is no more. He was caught buried right up to the wheels in someone called Ducky and was shot. Tube.

His brocky wagon used to make to places the wagons would struggle to get to. Remember running back to the wagon with a section's worth of 'Chips n Mayo ' and a load of Chocy bars { nicked of course when his back was turned} not a fan of stealing, But he was doing ok ripping us Brits off .

Went to Lippstadt today, for a little gander. The barracks in the main have been converted into flats. There are brand new houses all over it, a college and the HQ building (one with the pillars) is a music school. There's even a bus route through which passes the HQ building. Most of the hangers are gone and the flats are the old singly blocks.

Fascinating/nostalgic stuff Biscuits_AB. I always look forward to your recce reports, and trust you still have your SOXMIS card with you! You mentioned Soest - is the Belgian tower still there? I have been in the building but never got up the tower.
