Discuss PECOC at the Military Clothing & Boots forum within the The Army Rumour Service website; More importantly how different is the colour scheme and will we kit tarts be left ...
I can see it now, in a decade ARRSE will be full of young thrusters who will be complaining about all the old farts who go on about HERRICK, lurk in the office, "enable" stuff and how it's got fuck all to do with what's going on now.
I can see your point and agree with it to some extent. But certain items do have a sell by date. IE 44 bottle carriers and drop ammo pouches on a roll pin belt with the shovel attachment cut from the yoke. Ally as hell 20 years ago, not so Ally if in use now. Also consider WWII camo windproof smocks and Dennisons with the same view (but add 5 to 10 years). And Assault vests 5 or so years ago.
Plenty of personalised belt kits and gaberdine windproofs in use now that wouldn't be allowed in most units if the DPM pattern changed.
Although I'll undermine myself now by noting the amount of Falklands era Windproofs I still see around. The DPM on those is different from the colour shades coming out now, which in turn varys from the original 95 colour shades.
aghhhhh!!!! people need to get get off their high horses and except change. all this '' digi cam is s**t"" stuff is a load of crap. fair one it may not be the the best there is on the market but come on . people need to wake up and smell the coffee. brit DPM is not the be all and end all. chunter over!!!
arent we best trying to find something that is good in the desert and also in a more temperate climate, bearing in mind how the green zone in afghan being right next to more desert type terrain.

A hybrid cam which is a mixture of new desert and new temperate (PECOC) has been developed and the intention is to use it on load carriage and ballistic covers. Its passed most of its sanity checks now and will be used on a batch of day sacks bound for HERRICK. If all goes well it could be one of the first PECOC outputs to be pushed quickly into ops (probably closely followed by the new desert which has some slight variations of the current colours and the addition of a third colour to make the desert better in night ops and urban desert environments).
Is the PECOC stuff going to be displayed at DVD this week. This year the people who do defense clothing and equipment are going to be there so i'm just wondering.
