You'd get them custom made, crafted from the furnaces of mordor, tipped with gold, rimmed with diamonds. And of course vibram soles!

A lot of negative thoughts on the Magnums which I totally disagree with. I brought a pair of Magnum Spider 8" which are extremely lightweight and ideal for tabbing. Not a bad price either think I brought mine for about 48 quid.
Only use them for tabbing, does the job!!!

I got issued some lowa style gor-tex boots for Bosnia back in 2004. They were absolute wank.

After 8 years of using my PRO-BOOTs to tab in, ive just bought Magnum Spider's and they rock!
lessons learnt from the original boot i had some desert magnums they were sheite. These NEW boots are very good.

im going on AT soon to wales and am wondering if my Altberg Defender Mk III would be good enough for hill walking and the like or should i plug for some civvi go-faster boots?

Without sounding like too much of a sad cnut.......
Altberg boots are based on a hill walking boot anyway so you've got a decent pair of boots already for AT.
