not at all, plenty of people wear them.

People won't judge you by what your boots wear. If anybody does - remind them politely that you find them perfectly comfortable, they're waterproof because you polish them, you didn't have to pay for them, and you won't have to if they break.
my friend is going to ask you some questions. personally, I hope you don't answer them because I want you to die in here and end up inside a pork pie!

Re: Best boots (tabbing, etc.)
Early December mate. They are flat out, and 3 members of staff down so it's going to take some time. They seem to have plenty of normal sizes in stock, but extra narrow and extra wide boots are made to order anyway.

Hmm... potentially. I was given a 7 week estimated waiting time on my boots, but they were actually sent to me within 3.

Re: Best boots (tabbing, etc.)
Happy days. That would be great, but with 3 members of staff missing I think the estimate they gave me is more realistic.

Just got a pair of Blackhawk Warrior - like submerging your feet in marshmallows.

Re: Best boots (tabbing, etc.)
I went in to Altberg yesterday for a free foot assessment. Cracking service and they have finally proven that my feet are odd/strange/alien and I now have a letter from them proving that fact just for me to wave it in the MO's face.

I have to go 2 sizes up to size 10 L from size 8 L because my feet are that wide! As a result the boots are far too long and have far far far too much empty space at the back towards the heel. Only so much space in the boot can be taken up with socks before your feet start to sweat and smell ;)
The guy at Altberg who measured my feet and was pretty amazed at how wide my feet are compared to their length. When I tried on a test pair of boots they had (size 8.5 XXwide) I was shocked at how the sides of my feet didn't rub against the sides of the boot. It was a revelation at how awesomely nimble they felt; Lighter and much shorter than my issued boots. "F*cking hell!!" I thought; I could walk normally in a pair of boots!
Altberg boots FTW
And now I'm cursing the 8 week waiting list

Re: Best boots (tabbing, etc.)
I waited 3 months for a pair of their walking boots, they took a bit of breaking in but in my opinion having tried Brasher, KSB etc they are the balls.

Sounds like my last trip to Altberg in March. Was worth it; 8 months down the line and now despise my Lowas, they feel like breeze blocks!

Re: Best boots (tabbing, etc.)
Wotcha. I'm off to somewhere hot and sandy very soon and I have been informed by the chaps handing over to us that the issue Lowa desert boots are a bit crap with tales of them shrinking when getting wet and even falling apart.
Now am I right in thinking the issued Lowa Boots are the Elite Desert model or are they referring to a different boot? Also does anyone have any first hand experience to refute this as I really prefer Lowa to Altberg?

Re: Best boots (tabbing, etc.)
I had both the Lowa and Meindl issue boots and would go for the meindl, they lasted me 4 months straight before the material on the inside started to tear around the heel

Re: Best boots (tabbing, etc.)
Couldn't you have just cut a toe off each side? Would've been better than the 8-week wait?
