    See if you can get some old Boots Combat High, they were mega.

    If RN issue boots are wrecking your shins, I would recommend plimsoles.
    Or, failing that, DMS boots. Never did anything to my shins!

    Issue boots (if same as the army) have lock in clips half way up the boot. Tie them tight at the bottom, but loose at the top. Basically step forward them tie it up! Stops shin splints.
