Discuss Personal Clothing System - the replacement for CS95 in Military Clothing & Boots on The Army Rumour Service; I'm wondering how often we're going to be hearing 'Are your hands cold sunshine? WELL GET YOUR HANDS OUT OF YOUR FCUKING POCKETS THEN!!!' once 'fleece-lined handwarmer pockets' arrive....

I'm not happy about our position in the narrative structure of this war.

Are we still keeping the Softie top and trousers as an extra thermal layer? Re the Lightweight Jacket/95 Shirt, I can't believe they kept the bloody zip which makes the shirt a nightmare to iron. Should have kept the buttons, introduced the velcro and ditched the zip. If some Dorris is worried about exposing her bangers (Why they put a zip on the 95 shirt after the trial run according to RUMINT) then she can do up another button. I guess the plan is that since we'll all be in Barrack dress we won't have to iron the zip until it melts into a sticky tary mess.

Re "Wicking" T Shirt. Any chance of something other than Brown? the old Green ones looked a great deal more Army. Better yet make them in MTP too.

"A shirt that can be worn over a thermal or sweat-wicking layer. It can be worn either tucked into trousers or loose depending on environmental conditions. "

So in most british Military Units, we'll be tucking shirts in then!

Its good to see the AI will be in tan color, sorry, karki, always though tan stuff goes with multicam, sorry, MTP much better than OG bits.
No double thickness knees with a velcro opening for pad inserts like on the US ACU cut uniforms? Think we've missed a trick there. On the whole though, looks pritty good so far.
I'm with turret monster on the amount of shouting the hand warmer pockets will creat!

All items of service issue equipment are on a one for one exchange basis, so if either your parachute or bullet-proof vest fail, take it back to stores & they will replace it free of charge !

Integrated knee pads, but soldiers wouldn't be able to have nice sharp creases down the fronts of their trousers!

    Mmmm kit...
Bravo Bravo sets himself a depressingly low standard which he consistently fails to achieve.

I'd quite like to know how heavy the new smock is, Ive got one of the mk2 modified ones at the min with the mesh lining and handwarmer pockets (which are no good when wearing webbing). It's quite a bit heavier then my issued one.

anyone have a pic of the 'secure pocket' in the trousers?

I appreciate it won't be to everyones liking and it does look similar to the American style cut especially with the jacket/shirt but it works for me. It looks practical and fit for purpose. It is definately designed for field use and not around camp but I suppose the new working/barrack dress will now come to the fore front. (God help us all!)

GS - Just a few minor questions reference the new gear.

Buffalo style top - is that likely to remain green or are there any other colours planned? Coyote Tan Perhaps?

Trousers - Have they retained the draw cord in the waist and in the legs? Not shown on ppt.

Any plans on for a windstopper type jacket?

On a matter of history - and I have posted the same elsewhere - prior to the introduction of Cbts 95, a lone ret'd 1-Star at Warminster had the final say-so over the design of combat clothing: on his watch, in the mid-80s SHirts Noggy were rejected on the grounds that 'you couldn't wear a tie with one on' . Proper R+D was conducted on combats 95, this being the first uniform to be systematically introduced through the mainstream procurement system: I think thsis was possibly the closest Tommy got to a peace dividend as defence spending was being reduced after the cold war. Back then, though, we hadn't understood that running [?] around in a half-ton of body armour was the way ahead on all operations.
