Seriously, I know they're shiney but who really cares? I know a decent ex-Para fellow with 22 years service and he is proud of 3 medals at the end of it. I also know an ex-PWRR bloke that left with 7 medals after only 5 years service, and this idiot thinks he's better than the Para for it?
I know they're "rewards" but they can't be that defining surely?
Keep your hands off my vodka!

5 years service? 7 medals? Name them. I know a few blokes in 1 & 2 PWRR and I don't think it's possible to have got 7 medals in 5 years in those Bns. You're lying.

    Mogadi-shoe! Geddit?

As for UK participation there is a UN report somewhere which describes the in theater (sic) logistics contribution of British (RAF?) elements. Wiki on UNOSOM II says:

UNOSOM II had a strength of 28,000 personnel, including 22,000 troops and 8,000 logistic and civilian staff[7] from Australia, Austria, Bangladesh, Belgium, Botswana, Canada, Egypt, Fiji, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Kuwait, Jordan, Malaysia, Morocco, Nepal, New Zealand, Nigeria, Norway, Pakistan, Spain, South Korea, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Sweden, Tunisia, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, the USA and Zimbabwe.
Still, all being said rare as hen's teeth for Army personnel...

    Daddy-pig says "Snoort!"

They used to say if an infinite number of chimps typed we would get the works of Shakespeare, the internet has proved this is NOT the case...

Bosnia, Kosovo, UN, Iraq, Afg, NI? Was one issued for Sierra Leone?

If he joined in 97 he could maybe have done it, although unlikely.
"What kind of Terrorist are you?"
    "I am a terrifying....Terrorist... Are you scared?"
    "No.."
"God dammit! Oh, err, i mean Allah dammit..."

"so where did you train to be a terrorist?"
    "At the Suicide Bomber facility"
    "Oh really? Nice Place?"
    "It was..."
    "Why, what happened"
    "New guy...."

If he joined in 97 and did 5 years he couldn't have got an Iraq medal. PWRR didn't go to Sierra Leone either. The most he could have is Bosnia, Kosovo, NI and QGJM. If he joined later he could have got the Iraq medal but wouldn't have got the QGJM unless ex-stab.

    Maybe he was really brave
"..there has seldom if ever been a shortage of eager young males prepared to kill and die to preserve the security, comfort and prejudices of their elders, and what you call heroism is just an expression of this simple fact; there is never a scarcity of idiots."

A miserable future awaits you: for it is well-known that he is so omnipotent he takes on other forms when in the company of mere humans. His aura is that of a thousand trip-flares: should he gaze on you, your are instantly turned to a pillar of Clansman antennae.

    *shiver*
