Good Morning Arty Laycock. I gotta say mate I agree with your comments on your last message, WTF are people doing turning up at Rememberence parades in jeans and other casual gear. Is it me being over the top by thinking people should make an effort, purely out of respect to the Brave Dead and not just as an excuse to arrive and be seen as being there. I see every day people where I work turnout lookin like a bag of shit, hair like a fkn birds nest, unshaven or my pet peev is blokes with haircuts that look like some fkn faggot off certain national t.v shows.........replies pls.....rant partially over.

How very easy it is in your world! A lot of effort goes into getting these parades set up and running smoothly so when someone doesnt make the effort it grates, it doesnt take much to throw on your Sunday best and get into the spirit of things. My first statements didnt go across particurlarly so I apologise but there seems to be a huge gulf between standards of yesteryear and now. Thats all.

Years ago it was suggested that an apple a day kept the doctor away. But since all the doctors are now Muslim, I've found that a bacon sandwich works best.
I hate all this terrorist business. I used to love the days when you could look at an unattended bag on a train or bus and think to yourself; I’m having that.

Anyway.
Up here in the frozen north (but slightly south of the Alloa waltfest and "vets fall out" disaster), the cadets didn't do too badly. Some of the ACF were very new - and it showed in their drill (and I wish the ACF were as good at getting proper uniform for cadets as the ATC) but there's more in the detachment than there were last year and a letters gone to the Bn Col saying thanks (and to the ATC Regional Commandant.)
The serving? We had 2 turn up - had a shock when one lad appeared initially in FAD with trainers - his boots were still in the car, gleaming. Shit, FAD is ugly though.
Bling medals? Grrr. I've no authority to say anything to the vets, no matter how much it pisses me off - and I wouldn't choose this particular event to make a scene about it, even if I had the power to insist things changed. Very different for adults in military uniform, however.

You'd love me then, I was in jeans, Cat boots and a Barbour jacket last year, I took my nephew and he kicked off during the address and ran off back towards the car. I dragged him back and he then tried mimicking the trumpet when it fired, I got the look of withering death from a couple of hobbyists.
Would you have told me off if I'd have been stood next to you?
