Heh. I can see I'm wasting my time here but here's one last go.
Correct. Of the 1667 who "went missing", almost all of them were members of the Regular Reserve, not TA, who decided that they would ignore the Queen's summons. Roger so far?
"Accepted into service" means that the MOD accepted them into service, not that they accepted the offer or whatever.

That's a difference of 1,086. Almost all of that shortfall is accounted for by the 920 employer appeals.
Remember that the remaining 160 or so who failed at Chilwell will include both Regular Reserves and TA.
That's two questions. Loving your German spelling by the way.

How many ended up in Iraq? Well, I can't give you an exact figure but if you look at the table on page 9 of the National Audit Office report (compiled not by STABs or ARABs making stuff up, but by accountants), you will see that the TA and Regular Reserves combined accounted for the following proportions of the Deployed Army in Iraq on each of TELICs 1 to 7:
TELIC 1 12%
TELIC 2 18%
TELIC 3 10%
TELIC 4 15%
TELIC 5 9%
TELIC 6 8%
TELIC 7 8%
Remember that only a total of 365 Regular Reserves served on TELICs 1 to 7 combined, so the vast majority of those who deployed were TA. The proportion went down from TELIC 4 onwards because the TA's share of the overall deployment was capped.
Badger_Heed: I don't have a scoobies how many regulars or reservists (regular or TA) were sent home on compassionate leave. In my own subunit on TELIC 1: zero. The fat-filter is applied at Chilwell.Last edited by Dr_Evil; 24-02-2012 at 14:47.

I wish they had decreased the size of the holes in their filter as this would have prevented the largest living human being I'd ever witnessed rock upto my unit in Feb 2003 whilst we were gearing up in Kuwait.
Admittedly, he was an incredibly pleasant bloke but he was a fucking behemoth of a man who smelt like sweaty Primula.
We also has a WO2 that joined us whilst we were digging shell scrapes during a sandstorm. He broke down and was led away by an officer from the Bde staff, never to be seen again.
I like to think he was shot for cowardice but the reality was a flight home to the TAC bar."Two in the goo, one in the poo".

BH, those are beautiful anecdotes.
You're right: the emphasis in Jan/Feb 2003 at Chilwell was on chucking kit at people and directing them to South Cerney, so a few knackers did get through on TELIC 1. Amazing what a five-month absence from the bar did for them, though. And Chilwell did toughen up after that.

That's probably aimed (quite badly) to me.
So because you never saw any STABS sent home it didn't happen? I'll bet you've never witnessed a woman urinating on another woman's grid but it does happen.
Without mentioning the actual units that the rejected STABS were from (40 Signal Regiment (V)) how can I prove these "facts"? Other than posting a unit photo of the SNCOs & WOs in the Kuwait desert dressed in desert combats - all except one hugely obese Sgt wearing temperate C95.
The other reject had already been rejected at this point."Two in the goo, one in the poo".

I just joined the TA, 251 medical squadron. Waiting on word for my RSW.
I would like to provide security at the Olympics, what are the chances of me getting called up?
