Kosovo 1999 when at HQ ARRC I had hear that when the Sp Bn had deployed ahead to clean up film city prior to the Prince of Darkness setting up camp there, as the Serbs had shat all over the place.

On cleaning up one bloke opened a cupboard and apparrently found 100 grand in USD that the Serbs had fled leaving behind... and handed it in!!

Still unfounded but if it is true then , what a dopey cnut!

It was probably left over from the US Army Urban myth story about Panama?

    Daddy-pig says "Snoort!"

They used to say if an infinite number of chimps typed we would get the works of Shakespeare, the internet has proved this is NOT the case...

Def true about Wolfgang, back in the 80's we used to stop and ask him where a certain unit had moved to, he always knew and could give you enemy number too! Also on a couple of occasions we actually got some free Herfybeer off of him for pulling him out the Sh1t - his Merc bus actually did get bogged in on occasions (another myth I think - Wolfgang could out wade a cheiftain!)

I have never heard of anybody ever falling out the side of a DAF!
Friend of mine was killed while sitting against the canvas in the back of a Land Rover on the Sennelager ring road. An oncoming HGV brushed the side and he died of internal injuries. The advice you got was good advice.
That was the reason we were given for not sitting in that position,I think it was the wing mirror of the passing veh hit him in the back
nice guy, sword of honour winner; just a tragic waste
To back this one up, I saw the same thing happen to our interpretor 'Bob' in Bos, coming back from some crappy admin run, he got **** by the wing mirror of a passing truck. Fortunately he wasn't killed, but he was in a very bad state for quite a while.

It's not big or clever kids.
Whilst In basic training I feel from the back of an MK because we were daring to swing out on the rope at the back, the truck went over a bump and bang, landed on me arrse on the road, luckily we were only doing about 10mph but I still couldn't run/walk properly for days.

Considering Osnabruck used to be the largest garrison town in BAOR with the largest incident of drinkdrive conviction around, all I can remember is around 1981 an Irish Regiment Recce group decided to pull into the Statts bank to make a large cash withdrawl. The only way that they knew it was an Irish Regt was that nobody in the bank had a clue what they were shouting, plus all the staff spoke better English than them anyway.Cant remember what Regt it was but 3Para took over from them,so much for a quiet life.Funny thing, cant remember what camp it was,but can remember the street name,Landwehr Strasse cos found it on Google Earth.Anybody remember what the camp was called.

I tried to tell an officer about this in about 1989
We were out in 4 tonners ( I was driving) and we had the tilt rolled up
He was an RAF pilot on instructor duties at Cranwell and kept sitting on the side holding on to the bodywork trying to look cool
After a few days of "Sir will you pack in sitting like that and please sit on the seats" and him giving me don't worry I know best I gave up and thought fukc you I've tried to warn you
One day coming out of a hide a large branch starts scrapping down the side of the wagon and geting bent back
Once it cleared the head board it flew back into position taking said pilot numpty with him
He was lucky he got quite a bang and fell off the wagon which I had stopped (mostly due to collapsing with laughter it must be said)
Soon got put a stop to it but I have heard of similler as above being much worse
We should remember the tremendous contribution of the Queen Mother to the war effort:
As the BBC pointed out, she 'bravely remained in London beside her husband' during the war.
This contrasts sharply with the actions of my grandfather who, on the declaration of war immediately left his wife and children and pissed off, first to France, then North Africa, Italy, France (again) and finally Germany.
The shame will always be with us.
