Re: Ever seen a ghost whilst serving?
Legs - thank you for your continued support. Like you say I thought I made it very clear what my intentions were. In my experience a little truth/fact can go a long way and nearly always makes any 'story' far more believable/readable. I do a great deal of research and where ever possible I get my facts 100% correct. eg I spent 2 whole weeks with a local fire 'watch' whilst investigating Spontaneous Human Combustion (the subject of the current novel). In the latest I dealt with real Albanian gangs (a scary activity in itself I can promise you)!!
Cheers from the frost in AustraliaI am always on the lookout for scary tales from current and previous army personnel. My novels often involve military with more than a hint of the paranormal!

Try the "haunted barracks" thread. Im sure that will give you the opportunity to get some millitary ghost stories without starting another thread.
The opinions contained in the above post are not necessarily those of the British Army, the owners of ARRSE, or the poster

Re: Ever seen a ghost whilst serving?
Can't say that I believe in Ghosts and such, mi old ma used to say The dead can't hurt you.
However I was married to a Thai lady, she didn't think Ghosts evil spirits exsisited she knew they did.
Tales of Kassuu, bloodsucking vampires that pray in up country villages drinking the blood of menstruating women and above all afterbirth.
Pi are another evil spirit and all old buildings are full of the dead and departed who never left.
The Pub I drink in is thought by the barmaids to be free of evil spirits but the house next door was a medical clinic and all the staff we have had over the years say it's full of ghosts of the departed, both Patients and residents.
No one wants a second hand car for that will almost certainly be full of bad influences from previous owner who left them when he escaped.
The other year the Thai cabinet did a roadshow, a visit to hold a Full Cabinet meeting out of Bangkok so rural folk could see how democracy works. Over half their time up north was spent visiting a Local soothsayer of High Repute. Seems he neglected or failed to spot the shortly forthcoming Coup.
Did Belsen and Dachau, not nice places and admittedly short of wildlife but never saw anything to suggest an unnatural influence.
Nay No Ghosts its all in the mind.

I too have been to Belsen - it was strangely devoid of any bird life at all. Even stranger as elsewhere on the 'Heath' there were plenty.
Your comments about local ghosts is very intersting - thank you.I am always on the lookout for scary tales from current and previous army personnel. My novels often involve military with more than a hint of the paranormal!
