MTDs seem fair but for T&S see JSP752 (sorry to be the bearer of bad news - you will find you are invited not ordered to attend - been there done that!):
04.0123. Investitures and Royal Garden Parties. The cost of travel to attend an investiture or presentation for the purpose of receiving an award not earned in a military capacity, or to attend a garden party, is not to be borne by public funds unless the Service person is ordered to attend as a military duty. I think you'll find that for all of TA 100 the decision is that no MTDs can be claimed for 'social' events. I believe that a GP is a 'social event'.
I am sorry if that is the decision that your unit are sticking with. I honestly think it is wrong. As I said earlier, I have seen instrutions relating to MTD pools and travel for TA10, and specifically for the RGP. I will stick with my interpretation and pay the blokes, thanks.

Sorry - this is not my units view - it's the direction from the TA100 Working Group, DIGTA and the Divs!
Crack on and do what you must but don't shoot the messenger...
