I can see it now, in a decade ARRSE will be full of young thrusters who will be complaining about all the old farts who go on about HERRICK, lurk in the office, "enable" stuff and how it's got fuck all to do with what's going on now.

I can remember in '85 at the 2Div Arty Conc at Otterburn, the BC next to me had someone tap him on the shoulder and say 'FM All available on that tgt'. He gave the order and back came the response Fire Mission Division!

Bravo Bravo sets himself a depressingly low standard which he consistently fails to achieve.

    Sorry, had another flashback:

Burning the loose threads around the button holes with a cigarette lighter.

The English are feeling the pinch in relation to recent terrorist threats and have raised their security level from "Miffed" to "Peeved." Soon, though, security levels may be raised yet again to "Irritated" or even "A Bit Cross." The English have not been "A Bit Cros...s" since the blitz in 1940

Being 20 years old and reading Team Yankee on honeymoon (flashback courtesy of the cold war TA thread).

and seeing my recruit instructor fall into an abandoned fire trench on Longmoor whilst leading us on a night recce patrol ! Can you even dig them these days let alone just leave them as a H&S hazard.

OCs interview for missing a Tuesday drill night (the year I did 119 days rather than my usual 70-80).

OCs interview for being consistently the last man out of the bar.........

Silvermans - a '44 pattern nylon largepack - gucci as owt!

    Rubber NBC repair patches.

    New fangled NBC Casualty bags.

    COLPRO

Cyprus with 'the obsolete weapon', LCLs that dropped you into 5' deep water so that your webbing and rations could absorb all that lovely salt water to keep you cool on your march to Paramali.

Being thrown out of the billet by the RSM during COs inspection as I was about to puke my guts all over the CO.

    Warsaw pact study weekends

Cardboard in the pockets of those god-awful orange 85 pattern combats.
