They're sending booties? Hmm, must be deploying to Barnwood.
Anyone think 2 Sig Bde is trying to justify its existence?
in what way ? at the moment the airwave system is holding up very well, so no extra assets are required (altho i expect extra would be nice to have ) but thats the case with anything this is the reason the AGV,S havent moved yet. so the Q is do we move now to pre survayed locations set up and wait just incase or do we hold back at home or are TAC,s and wait for it to go tits up. them move out possibly in the rain and traffic adding futher to people problems or wait to be underslung by an already hard pushed RAF thats a big disission to make for someone who might be expecting his next promotion out of the brigade maybe to whitehall , if it all works out and were not needed then he,s a good chap and been prudent if it goes wrong then he for the high jump as he didnt act on time my reg this year dont have a prob with MTD,S and havent for a few years and i thought this was the case within 2 sig bdge last year i did 99 days this year so far ive done 44 so far inc camp the rifles who we are co located with are restricted to 28 days and alot of them have used most of that already exept there camp commitment and thus the reason for poor attendance at 43 inf bdge exersices from now on the the real reason we havent been called out is as allready stated WHO,S GOING TO PAY
I can see it now, in a decade ARRSE will be full of young thrusters who will be complaining about all the old farts who go on about HERRICK, lurk in the office, "enable" stuff and how it's got fuck all to do with what's going on now.

So, as you admit you've a troop(-) ready to deploy, we've also got a troop(-) ready to go. So the ICS requirement for a major natural disaster is probably a troop(+).
I can't believe AGV's haven't deployed, substations about to be flooded, backup available .... not rocket science
but as you said, the bank is empty and the government can only afford to spend cash on US foreign policy not its citizens

Sub station was saved by the Navy from Portsmouth. 2 Bde not required.
2 Sig Bde probably provided AIRWAVE to enable Navy/Royal Engineers command and control. SAINT acts as a backup to AIRWAVE/Mobile for all services phone as seen during Carlisle floods. Their are other reasons why I don't believe AIRWAVE is fool proof/reliable.
