Puttees-ette expressed an interest in joining the TA. A visit to the ACIO raised her hopes, but actually viewing what units are within public transport range of home has dashed her hopes. She doesn't want to become a long range sniper and even if she were in the media industry, the buses don't run that late. "Dad, I could join your lot, then you could give me a lift." What, and hold me to ransom for the rest of my married life?

Yes, the map could well turn up an indication of where detachments could be strategically placed.

So, a TA battalion or nine Regular Guards battalions? Not a difficult choice, then (especially as we don't have nine Regular Guards battalions).

Its a start, but poor that they haven't got all the units listed. If people see that there is apparently not a unit right on their doorstep they may be discouraged from joining.

Hope this link proves useful in obtaining the locations of the various units and TACs in 51 Bde's ORBAT ...

    http://www.rfca.org.uk/TA/the_units/index.htm

Good idea about expanding the TA's coverage on Wikipedia. I have attempted to expand the unit articles relating to 51 bde but a lot of the other Regional Brigades are lacking up to date and substantive information, especially regarding local Combat Support Arms and Services under their command.

I suspect the intention is that you complete the form on http://www.tanearyou.org.uk/
"Register your unit" at the bottom of the page.

Just to save Dr E and DD trawling through every thread on ARRSE.

The point has already been made by puttees and suits_U but I will reiterate it here. Creating a comprehensive list is a massive undertaking. So it's up to you to help bring the site's level of coverage from "poor" - a word which made me want to administer slaps, to be honest (words like wipe and arrse come to mind) - to "excellent".

Danglydell is willing to check and input the deluge of information which is submitted - he's clearly a masochist.

It's asking a bit too much of him and me to trawl the internet for information about other units, check that info for accuracy and up-to-dateness and then input it.

    YOU DO YOUR BIT.

    Danglydell and Dr E.

Brilliant stuff. Anyone sent a link to the OAR marketing agency yet to show them how simple it could be?!

Just one thing. Is it possible to put the websites and email addresses as hyperlinks?

    Dr Evil and Dr Dangle.

i am very much impressed with the site and the idea...although i think the damage has already been done.

I hope the Adjutant General reads ARRSE. If he does... i would urge him to sack his webmasters.

Not yet. I did have a dream, though:

Interior. Night. Dr Evil is doing the Evil business to a hot marketing/PR chick who happens to be working on the OAR account.

Dr Evil (emphatically): Yeah, baby! I'm so inside your OODA loop right now! Rrrrrr!

Marketing/PR chick (in the manner of someone speaking a Sophie Ellis-Bextor song): Really? I hadn't noticed.

Actually, I made that up. I dreamt last night that I was giving career advice to Tony Blair. Seriously. Now that's ODD.
