Re: Celebrating 100 years of the Territorial Force/Army

Whilst it is eminently laudable that the Lord Lieutenant is doing his bit, I can't help feeling that the Army in it's wider sense is 'having it's cake and eating it here'

'Reserve of first choice', 'essential contribution to operations' etc., - well, if that's true then stump up the money and do it properly. Where's the centenary medal?, where's the TV programme, the book, fly on the wall documentary of a TA soldiers training?, etc etc. Instead we have a series of cocktail parties paid for principally by a one off contribution by the DofW and little or nothing for the boys at the sharp end at home or abroad.

CGS needs to get a grip and enforce the volunteer military covenant.

I suspect that's why we kept the hired help out of the planning in '94. As I recall their contribution above unit level was zip and if we'd involved them last time we'd still be waiting. However I'm sure the grown ups will appear for the CTP (as ever) and ask everybody "what do you do in real life?"

My post Christmas abstinence from the demon drink will stand me in good stead for the summer cocktail binge. I'm going to at least four booze ups already under the guise of 'celebrating 100 years of the TA and/or RFCA'

    Hooray

Is this a spiffy new logo I spied in Soldier mag?

There's nothing quite like brand consistency is there?

I can see it now, in a decade ARRSE will be full of young thrusters who will be complaining about all the old farts who go on about HERRICK, lurk in the office, "enable" stuff and how it's got fuck all to do with what's going on now.

Hopefully it was a lot less than the Olympic one.

Tish-booom! Thank you ladies and gentlemen, Sir Sidney will be here 'til Thursday. Try the Pale ale.

I can only assume that the Centenary of the TA is not being celebrated because it will be too embarrassing for the Govt. when they scrap it and call it something different...like Individual Reserve Holding Pen for example?

    Daddy-pig says "Snoort!"

They used to say if an infinite number of chimps typed we would get the works of Shakespeare, the internet has proved this is NOT the case...

I can only assume we are not the sort of volunteers this government wishes to promote.
