I'm with FFD on this. Give it some time. It's difficult knowing exactly what you're signing up for until you get there, but look at the options arrsers are suggesting here, and think about what you want. I left because I was bored (and the alcoholism thing) on the plains of Southern England. I was 6 - 24 months away from from my CoW course but got impatient. I did try to tell them I'd leave if I wasn't placed soon... seems the Army doesn't respond well to blackmail and, of course, I couldn't back down...

What corps? Although I'm using scaley as reference.
I can't really see why TA DE officers in Sigs can't deploy in junior posts. Roles are similar to non technical manager/project manager. It's only when you'd ask a signals troop to fix bayonets (sorry... having a laugh here), do you see difference between regular and TA. Otherwise a properly selected regular or TA DE officer should have similar experience - some more than others but not sure which.
The technical managers are regular/TA LE Supervisors or TA PQO officers, I would drop TA LE supervisors off this list for the normal non deployment of TA subbie reasons (and the TA supervisors aren't being trained properly/seriously) .

Charming. I'm not quite that old you know, when I joined we were grappling with this whole new fangled gunpowder thing and what it might do to the battlefield. And wasn't Rebel the INTWO ? He's always seemed OK to me.
More seriously, I have no idea what we do these days about recruitment, attitudes etc. Seems a shame to bin something that's taken so much effort to acquire though.Feles mala! Cur cista non uteris? Stramentum novum in ea posui.

Except for that isn't job jobbed at all. QOY have no PID's for Forward Air Controllers so it is not "open to you" nor will you get on the course.
To do so you would need to get mobilised to do the course which would involve convincing the Arty Regt deploying (or in QOY case the Formation Recce Regt) to give you a FAC PID and mobilise you.
It is also not as simple as getting live ordnance done.
If I was you I wouldn't advise people in something you clearly know sod all aboutIf your gonna be a bear..Be a grizzly

Well excuse me, better make that the RY and RWxY then, they have and continue to have people doing this on a regular basis, officers too. Infact there is a course ongoing currently(3pax for H16 ) and persons lined up to a FAC cse for H18 , and yes you have to mobilise you cant learn this in 2 weeks. I only said QOY 'cause the OP is from NI, sorry there not in the loop.
Knobdont touch me there, i dont even touch myself there!

No Yeomanry Regiments have PID's for FAC's. Although they have had a couple of officers do this on earlier Herricks they most definatley do not have people doing this on a regular basis. People on the course now will not be deploying on H16 or H17 for that matter as there isn't enough time for them to complete all the necessary currency training as well as PDT. In fact the only TA FAC for H17 is a HAC officer.
I am well aware how long the course is and am also aware that you are talking out of your hoop.If your gonna be a bear..Be a grizzly
