Yes, I think you're right. A mug of tea before the off is not going have any detrimental effect, in fact the 'pick up' from the caffeine can prove beneficial as will any sugar. The problem is when people drink cups of tea or coffee throughout a working day and mistakenly believe that they've been hydrating themselves.

    Viagra.

Increases blood flow to the extremities, increasing oxygen levels in the tissue thus reducing muscle fatigue and cramps.

Of course your head will explode but your legs will be fine.

    Great Gosh A'mighty...

I've just read this in total disbelief... you seriously want advice about how to get round a CFT? Just get up in the morning and do your normal thing. Turn up with the correct weight in your Bergen and nip round with everyone else.

It's not fukkin hard, is it?

Absolutely agree, especially the last part - ' A good head will beat good legs everytime ' as Gav McDonald says.....whatever works for you....determination and peer-pressure will take you a long way....but eating right ( and building up your body's reserves of glycogen for a couple of days before as Brotherton Lad, who as a fell-runner knows a bit about it said) will HELP.....

and,Tiny, I dunno about you - but I always needed all the help I could get !

Is it just me, or do most people in the TA put too much emphasis on a CFT? Its not an olympic event, marathon or major hurdle that you 'carb load' and prepare in advance for.

The CFT is a benchmark - a minimum requirement test, to prove you can get you from A to B carrying all your kit and still be fit to fight at the end. As such you should be able to do this at any time, whether it planned in advance and fresh out of the barracks after a good night sleep and a proper breakfast, or sprung on you after a week in the field with hardly any sleep or scoff and your absolutely shattered.

If your fit enough to pass it, then whether youve had porridge and toast or an almight fry up shouldnt matter too much

Shhhhh...don't spoil the romance for them

They would shit a brick if they saw what Joe has to do after a proper thrashing on Saturday, night in the field, a luke warm compo breakfast and a black fist of water from a jerrycan.

Hahaha screw the nut screamers! CFT is piss and that's coming from a TA bloke lol plus if im not mistaken you only have to attempt this as part of your bounty quals. Is there any wonder we still have the stab stigma floating about. I sugest if you seriously doubt your ability to pass a CFT then it's time to hand in your beret and call it a day. Please tell me you are not at ripon this weekend? I hope not for your sake as a sea of maroon will be attending and none of them are nice lmao

One cup of coffee reduces cerebral blood flow for up to 30 minutes.
