The ONE ARMY concept gone mad - Two Armed forces to merge??

My money's on the Army merging with the Navy.....not sure how the annual rugby match will fair though - taking on the RAF just wouldn't be the same!

Plus it'd give the Royal Marines something to shout about!!

From Sky:

The Chief of Defence Staff has said it is "plausible" that two of the Armed Services could merge within the next 10 years.

Sir Jock Stirrup was speaking as the Government published a green paper that will pave the way for a full-scale strategic defence review after the General Election.

Presenting the report into military spending, Defence Secretary Bob Ainsworth said the military will face some "tough choices" in the years ahead.

He said in future Britain's armed forces will have to co-operate more closely with international allies such as France to provide the full range of defence capabilities.

However, he said he does not think any of the armed services will merge but is "happy for people to discuss it".

The green paper did not refer to specific programmes - except to confirm the Â£20bn update of Britain's Trident nuclear deterrent will still go ahead.

Can't wait to see the squaddies after their first middle watch. The amount of dripping that proceeds a 1 hour stag is shocking enough.

And before that, merger of Revenue & Customs.

I'm told their latest staff survey (total of 96 participating Government Department/bodies) has 50 questions seeking to discern the 'staff engagement'.

Their highest position was 58th, the next best 70th, and in 29 questions they came 90th or worse. In every single question they scored below average.

At a guess they'd be ..... err, 96th overall. More questions in The House
