Well I fucked that right up, in answer to the question "Can you really be binned less than 3 hours into the course ?" The answer is yes.

How to get binned one may ask? Well by failing the most basic of army tests the CFT of course. I have discovered through sheer stupidity that if you eat nothing the day before, bar a bag of doritos a banana and a bag of chips, follow that up with a crap brekkie, then you will run out of steam.

Still, no point crying over spilt milk etc.

    I am a twat

If it's of any condolence , as I remember it , of the twenty eight on my course last year , six failed the CFT , and five or six jacked it in the first four days . Will you have another crack at it next year ?

I'll be on the next one if they'll let me, if not then I'll be banking up on the mil skill side of things before I have another bash, half of the seniors course was on a second attempt.

Having half the course there on 2nd attempt is ridiculous, courses take effort to get set up, allocate resources, etc, etc - thats just covering Blandford.

For regiments it means soldiers miss camps for two or more years

That also applies to soldiers, as I expect the majority have had to use up MTD's employed in barracks and also many have used their holiday allocation.

How long before someone other than individual soldiers start taking the blame and does some corrective action?

What, like telling those attending that they will undertake mandatory fitness testing on day one, and must pass in order to continue on the course? Somehow I suspect the JIs cover that already.

Or is it just that people turn up unprepared, and it must always be someone elses fault because no-one will put their hand up to failing due to being unprepared?

The weight is not TA standard, but a capbadge one. Support arms carry 15Kg, except RA and RAC who carry 20Kg. Infantry , Airborne and Commando units carry 25Kg. This is all regardless of Regular or TA.

As for the 5 miles, I don't think that's standard to anyone. You sure it wasn't 6 or 8 miles?

Hmmm... I know that comparing it with Brecon Courses is a bit like apples and oranges, but before you get another one of your mental erections about people being Infantry-centric there might be something you can take from that. Regular battalions hold in-house two week selection cadres before sending candidates to Junior Brecon to weed out the non-hackers and help prep the lads up. Some TA battalions have a two weekend beat up before sending their candidates on the TA version. Perhaps a good idea to do a similar selection cadre for Signals units?

Which is precisely the reason I told two people to get out on their dinner break and do a six miler CFT .... I would have said do it each day they are employed stacking shelves ... maybe I should have added carry infantry weight ...... but here lies the problem, I expected both to pass every attempt.

Sorry, you are back to bad BATCO again. If you have a point to make, why not try again in clear and simple English rather than riddles?
