Discuss Qualifications in the TA at the Just TA forum within the The Army Rumour Service website; iv just joined the TA, got my phase 1 in a couple of weeks.
just ...
Well, your psi or someone senior at the TA centre should be more than happy to acquaint you with the "big book of courses". However you probably wont get on any until after phase two. No harm in asking though is there .
iv just joined the TA, got my phase 1 in a couple of weeks.
just wondering where i can find information about qualifications and courses i can do while im in
thanks for any replies
Depending on your unit role there will be plenty of courses out there for you,However they will not be available until you complete all of your phase1&2 trg and then only according to your rank and the requirements of the role you will fill within the unit.
If however you are prepared to do Adventure trg courses in your own time at your own expense most units will bend over backwards to assist.
Thanks for all the replies, its 7 rifles so infantry.
sorry to sound like an idiot but i did a search on here for courses and a couple came up but i have no idea what they are! CIC, PNCO,SCBC and PSBC??? im not from the regs so this is all pretty new to me.
i know this all isnt gunna happen till well after iv done phase 2 but just out of interest really.
CIC - Combat Infantryman's Course held at Catterick
PNCO - Potential Non-Commissioned Officer usually at Catterick, although some Bns do run in-house
SCBC - Section Commanders Battle Course at Brecon
PSBC - Platoon Sergeants Battle Course at Brecon
You also have PCBC - Platoon Commanders Battle Course at Brecon.
You are infantry, so the course you should be aware of is CIC - Combat Infantryman's Course. This is your phase two training - so after you have done your Phase one weekends, wait out to be booked onto one.
PNCO, SCBC are Career Courses which qualify you to be put forward for promotion. But you need not worry about them just yet.
