Finished mine on Saturday. Don't sweat it it. If your phys and admin is good you'll be fine. Keep your ears open and your gob shut; usual drills

I've just PM'd ian1983 a shed load of stuff about CiC that I'm sure he'd be happy to share with you if you ask him nicely. Good luck

On no account publish this, in case somebody finds it useful.

I would do, but the flak I would get on here just isn't worth it

As long as it reflects on what you've seen and does not tell people how to do a CFT...

I thought a CFT was simply a matter of starting at the beginning and not stopping until told to...

i couldnt believe the number of people who were totally unprepared for the course both mentally and physically.

i remember one lad who didnt even unpack and sat there persuading us that he was right to jack it there and then. he failed himself mentally as he allowed his vague fears to dominate him. he actually had nothing to be afraid of. he was the only one in my section who jacked. every day there were fewer and fewer as the lazy and lame fell by the wayside. Look after yourself and you should be ok.

physically it seemed to be demanding at the time but as long as you have made some effort you should be ok. we had loads of fat knackers who failed to perform every time any physical effort was required. my section were all up an hour earlier every morning going for a run and it paid off.

the DS are not there to fail you unless you are a total mong and a danger to everyone around you. you will be able at any time to RTU yourself and it is the easy option to quit when it gets tough. However the course isnt a beasting course and the DS wont be deliberately setting out to make you drop out.

its only 2 weeks and the clock is ticking from the moment you get there. Do what your told, do it when your told to and NEVER leave it til tomorrow if you have time to do it today.

focus on the end goal and keep plugging away. the only person who can fail you is you.

Finally if you cant deal with the pressures of CiC then the military may not be for you. imagine the pressures you will face in Afghanistan

    Only 12 years..?? :D

Try 20 This year...And your right i had a great time the Trg Cpls were outstanding lads and taught us to a high Standard..... Even then they tried to get the Bench mark up...

Whats the oldest TA inf will take you?

I am 40, 2 years reg service left and looking to join the TA, but not in my current Corp. Happy to start at the bottom, different role after all, hopefully my good looks and physique will speed me through the ranks, pretty much as in the regs.

West Midlands/Shropshire area. Thinking inf or Yeomanry, which units? I know RLMY or RMLY (never remember which way round it goes) is a local unit.

Not a wah, a genuine question.

Why, don't you think i might bring something to the party? But fair enough, point taken.

Crunchie, a bloke with your Regular experience, would undoubtedly be welcome in just about most about any TA unit. At 40 with your previous experience (and fitness dependent) there shouldn't be any bar to you joining the Infantry. As for the RMLY, well I refer you to my response to your post in the Current Affairs section. In all fairness, I only met three RMLY bods and that's no way to judge a unit, but two of them were absolute idiots and biffs which is either a freak random sample or indicative of something or other.

Pretty sure most of the RMLY posts are Challenger 2 crewmen replacements - so a bit of a change from the Inf.........

Personally, I've always thought that nothing is safer than a nice hole in the ground, but there you go.

Thats IS the official line but on our course we had a guy going through with NO previous experience at the ripe old age of 45!!!! (made me feel quite youthful! ). He was in the PWRR. However, he was/ is a trained psychuiatric nurse and qualified electrician (yes, we did all the jokes about shock therapy ) so I have a feeling his unit may have alternative ideas for him than an infanteer... though he did pass CiC.
