It very much depends on style of teaching and the group. I would like a bit more input in to my drills but I seem to be doing better than others and it's therefore the others that get and perhaps need the attention.

Sadly though, I'm not as good as some and that's where I'd like to be.

Your argument that you cannot soare DS because you are all trade training was nuked last year when I counted nine MI blokes at Pirbright for a pistol competition. If they can turn up for a jolly, they should turn up to train SUTs.

In any case, you really are in no position to slate RTC DS and even if you where, you have been around long enough to know you should not.

No, I'm a systems engineer. A sub-system (read: any individual member of the DS) may be extremely good as and of itself, but the emergent properties of the system (read: the SUT experience as a whole) depend on everything else as well.

The system engineer's favourite analogy is the car, so you may be the engine and a jolly good one to boot (V12, 500 BHP etc) but the car won't go anywhere without a gearbox. Or if you leave the roof off it'sll go but the passengers will hate it when it rains. Remember POSIWID, the Purpose of a System Is What It Does, not what the sub-systems want it to. (Picture the engine revving away without the gearbox ...)

What I don't see at the moment from the feedback I get is any one post responsible and owning all the budget for the car as a whole.

Anyway, you will no doubt be glad to know we don't do jollies any more, there's no money. I'm sorry if you feel personally targeted, that's never been my intention.

I gather that over the coming months and certainly for next Training Year, things are going to change at MB (and I suspect other RTC's). If there are not enough suitably qualified instructors from a unit (say about 1 to 7) then all the SuTs from that unit will be RTU'd.
