Bollocks. 99% of people have the time to get in three good quality fitness sessions a week. That's all you need.
Exactly - time management. 3 x 35 min runs per week plus 2 mins of press ups and sit ups on alternate days would keep anyone at a good standard of fitness.
A combined commitment of about 2 hrs per week and at no cost to the individual.

Can I claim MTDs for this?
Oh arrse, of course I can't, I've retired...
Surely your exercise these days is stretch for bottle of Gin, bend to get tonic out of fridge, swing french doors open and stroll into garden. And on alternate days reach for pipe and lift beslippered feet onto footstool?
I can see it now, in a decade ARRSE will be full of young thrusters who will be complaining about all the old farts who go on about HERRICK, lurk in the office, "enable" stuff and how it's got fuck all to do with what's going on now.

See the event (for H4H) I posted on the Slingsby thread this morning to see how I get exercise these days...

I've got to say that the general level of fitness in the TA (from my experience) is rather embarrasing. I don't want to be with people that think that a 13 minunte pft time is a good acheivement. That's from people in their early 20s.
The TA are in in place to support the regs on ops, something that is happening more and more so surely they should be meeting the same standards of physical fitness?

I don't get 3-4 PT sessions a week, have Wednmesday afternoons off for sport and live and work on the same site. I work in central London spend over 3 hours a day commuting to and from work and do a full days work when I get there. If I could be as fit as the regular army despite doing all that what sort of message does it send out if a part-time soldier can be fitter than a full-time one?
(actually I am very fit at the moment and can do the CFT and PFT but that's beside the point)
My bold - my round trip is 2 hrs and 30 minutes (combined train and walk time) and i too do a full days work when i get there, so that argument doesn't wash with me and, unsurprisingly, the rest of your post doesn't either.
You're only having to pass a PFT and CFT once a year - it's not like you're having to train for P Coy, AACC or selection - and obviously, if you can already pass the former then whatever you're doing must be working.
