None of them had any problems following normal protocol...
so the Commisioned officer was saluted and the Warrant officers were not...

No, the big point is that the US Army rates CW5 as a lower rank than O-1. It follows that CW5, at best, rates as a British WO1 equivalent.
"Hurrah for the Works Group" just doesn't have the same ring...
"A volunteer is worth ten pressed men."
So, a TA battalion or nine Regular Guards battalions? Not a difficult choice, then (especially as we don't have nine Regular Guards battalions).
I am a number. I am not a free man.

If Dettingen reckons we should salute CW3s because they are 'in the officers' mess' then we should start ssaluting all the SCE school teachers in Germany... after all they have 'semantically challenged' commissions too.
The true question is now raised though... what is the equivalent US rank to the RAF WO?Last edited by chocolate_frog; 15-04-2012 at 13:42.

Why highlight RAF WO? It's OR9 same as WO1 same as the 3 Sgt Major appointments in the US.

Are you the designated unit boring cunt by any chance? It is not professional for any British soldier to salute a warrant officer from another nation because they are not officers. By your juvenile hissy fit belief that everyone should be saluting you, you are actually wishing for the British soldier to lower himself to your sorry standards. Sorry old chap, it's not going to happen.
