Lots of scams by fraudsters using ID theft to open bank accounts/car finance through above info on CV's, and it's easy to advertise for a job on the web and say send CV's to us - yet all they do, is sift through looking at CV's with enough personal details on to nick your ID!

NEVER PAY ANY UP FRONT FEES to any agency for.....
CRB/SC Checks (lots of agencies take £40 for these, but never get you a job)
Travel/Hotel costs (book your own travel and hotel)
Training/Uniform costs (No company should make you pay for training or kit. If they do, walk away) *some may ask for a deposit so you don't fook off, which is reasonable, as it's returned on leaving company.

Sounds to me like a scam (of the variety of 'give us some money so we can process your work permit' or a couple of blokes who think because they spoke to someone in a pub think they can set up a company on the basis of a drunken conversation.

Lot of these firms at the minute, it is unfortunately a 'suck it and see' endeavour, if your bumming about with no one else to consider and wanting to take a punt then at least look into it but dont be suprised if you end up high and dry squeaking to the embassy for a ride home as many have had the misfortune to do in the last 18 months regarding these contracts.

If its word of mouth and meagre on info then tell them to poke it.

I work as a HGV Class 1 Driver (artic) for Gregorys in Cullompton (10 miles N of Exeter (Devon)
There is a new contract starting before Christmas (october ish) that will require a extra 20 ish drivers rumoured to be mainly rigid work but also urban artics so HGV1 required.
Gregorys are not recruiting at the moment so keep an eye on their web site as they expect to be soon Gregory Distribution or drop me a pm if you are interested as gregorys usually recruit inhouse or referals if they can. Lots of ex service peeps in gregorys as well.

I spent some time in Antibes (France) and there were plenty of jobs available, especially for anybody with mechanical experience and/or a bit of go about them. Some of the wages are piss poor but the perks and tips can more than make up for it. (I worked there for $2500/month but could average over $7000 with tips some months.)
