Tony Blair's evidence to the Iraq Inquiry

Given that Blair's appearance to the Inquiry is possibly the most anticipated appearance so far, and given the evidence heard over the last few weeks.

Do members here consider that his appearance will in anyway shed new light on HMG's decision to proceed with mil action?

Fast reaching the opinion that irrespective of the relatively damning evidence heard so far, future governments' will never again commit BRITFOR to ops in the same way ever again. Seven years after the event, Blair really must be reaching (if he hasn't already) the conclusion that he will be remembered for this Friday's appearance and little else.

So, what "line" will Blair take, or will we witness "more of the same" from Teflon Tony?

Predictions and outcomes?

1. Chilcott will be eating out of his hand after the first hour
2. The outcome of this will change nothing for Blair - if blame is not being apportioned then he will receive no blame.
3. Blair is the socialist's wet dream - he dealt, and still deals, in projections, forecast and spin. Results mean little to him.
4. Regardless of what the public infers from the appearance and the outcome Blair has already reconciled this in his own mind and nothing is going to change his sickening confidence in his own rectitude.
5. Blair will be remembered as charismatic and a strong leader, Brown will be remembered as a dithering, scared and dangerously unstable idiot.
6. Blair's line will be that he followed his concience, that God was on his side and that regime change is a good enough reason even if he was "mistaken" in WMD claims.
7. Without a proper and unbiased war crimes tribunal and further investigation into the death of Dr Kelly this whole sorry mess will go around and around. Until blame has been apportioned, trials have been held and the chief protagonists either acquitted or sentenced we cannot escape from this cycle.

Spotting a trend here -- it's almost as if the membership here is convinced that Blair is nothing but a slimey liar!

So, how about some suggestions for the questions that the panel should ask of the former Prime Minister?

Oh, and will Blair look to point the finger towards our present PM? No wonder Brown has said that he'll appear sooner, rather than later!

You should probably place the disclaimer here that you may run the risk of being shot by plod should you go ahead with this. I mean - if they'll shoot a Brazilian electrician for nothing then what would they do to someone who believes himself to be the Messiah?

I am afraid that I have to disagree with your there Sub Sgt. For Blair to lie he has to actually say something and string together a complete sentence. I expect a session of question : non-answer and for people to be more confused at the end than a confused person who has been to confused academy.
