There is no such place as 'West Sussex', nor is there an 'East Sussex'.

There are 'county' councils (created/named by Ted 'Ted Heath' Heath) in IIRC 1974. They are for civvy administration purposes, and have nothing to do with the people's wishes.

There was only ever (but, sadly, no longer is) a '(The) Royal Sussex Regiment'.

Said name featured on their Cap Badge (excepting Cinque Ports Bn)

There was only ever 'The Royal Sussex' as their Regimental March. (CP Bn also used 'Let the Hills Resound)

There was (and is) only ever a 'Sussex Constabulary'.

There was (and is) only one 'Sussex by the Sea' (the marching song of the aforementioned Regiment, and the first march-past of the Royal Air Force).

And remember, the old dictum remains 'A Sussex man will not be Druv'. Grand-Père Whiffler & his antecedents would have no truck with East or West.

PS - Littlehampton-ites are just a bit odd though, and the less said about Brighthelmstone the better.

PPS - Who is terrorised when some cr@p advertising balloon is removed ?.

Twasnt me gov onest! Sounds fun though doesnt it, to be honest balloon busting isnt that easy, I recon plod couldnt prove what it was and whoever did it will get away wih it (hopefully if they are the pikey scum I know they might be I hope they dont)!

Ugly, the Pikeys have moved back to winter quarters in Burgess Hill, and, as they have put Christmas decorations up and tapped into the power supply at the nearest lampost, look set to stay until the New Year (or until the next sitting of the Magistrates Court, anyway).

I haven't seen any rural terrorists creeping about in Sussex. Then again, I forgot to cut eyeholes in my balaclava, so I don't see a lot really. I'm actually on the border between East and West.

Does anyone know what weapon was used? 60m up would, I would have thought, be ok for a 12ft/lb air rifle, but it would take a lifetime to make enough holes to deflate it. The quickest method would be 12 bore but then I suppose Sussex Police would be taking a very dim view of that and start knocking on doors. Armed Response Team etc. Anyway good luck to whoever did it , unless they are Pikeys, of course.
