I live in Ireland & am uber grumpy from what I have seen from Shortt's online persona. I am only an hour from Castle Bellingham so may go for a a wee spin and say hello to the him. It's rather ingcongrous with his CV. Theology, Medicine, SF Consultant et al.
It would be amusing to see if we can persuade the phoney Baron to issue proceedings in the UK. I'd love to see what a British judge would make of him. The expression "torn to shreds" springs to mind.
If we need suitable provocation and for the avoidance of doubt. "Baron" (sic) you are a Walt.
No need to bother ARRSE, "Baron", if you're serious you can apply to the Court for an order to get the ISP to reveal my IP address. You'll have to demonstrate grounds of course and give the Court an undertaking for costs but its an ex parte application. Crack on! JJ
ps: if the delusional pillock reads this, do feel free to PM me.
pps: ARRSE Mods, if you are thinking about deleting this, I am a solicitor (having left the Army long ago). "Fair comment" is a defence to a defamation claim and if he has any money with which to pay my costs, I'd love to see if I could get a security of costs order against him if he even thinks of bringing an action.
Now we’re not sure of the medal in question because despite all the photos that show up on Google there’s not one clears hot of his rack. Mind he does state often enough he has a Canadian decoration and the Frozen Beavers chapter of the League of Fracking Idiots surprisingly don’t seem to have their own gongs.
However 30,000 Centennial Medal issued and not one to a prepubescent Irish monk in training, mainly due to the fact all were issued to Canadian citizens.
...or the CD for that matter. All medals have a red and white ribbon.
After doing some reading up on the Capuchin monks, it appears that they don't like to travel far from their cloister. So (tongue in cheek) can't see much use for a sneaky beaky training. I suspect like many RC families who were hitting hard times in the post war era (and ensuing 3 day work weeks of the early 70s), that Shortt was send to the friars so that his family had one less mouth to feed and he received his education from them.
Now, being a lawyer myself, what I find contemptible about such a person as this Shortt fellow's claim that he's an expert witness, is that what he professes to be an expert on can and will profoundly affect a person's life and liberty. If he is given to testifying on the grounds that he possesses a certain level expertise and that by his testimony could lead a jury to a finding of guilt, then he had better be squeaky clean in his credibility. Anything less will bring the administration of justice into disrepute and quite frankly, we lawyers don't need anyone else helping us to do that.
So jimbo, if you're reading this, take note. If I find just one tiny crack in your credibility and I find that you have in any way been responsible for anyone having their liberty removed because of your expert testimony, I will see that you will never be accepted as a witness again. So let's start with your so called testimony at the first London trials after 9/11. The citation please. Please also provide the Canadian awards you have claimed you are in receipt of along with the dates and names of the persons awarding them to you.
Oh and don't bother to threaten me with your phony legal puffery, my favourite pastime is recreational litigation.
Niner Domestic seriously doubt its the ICCS Gong as less than 300 were issued. Mind I have an Uncle who was on that one. I'll ask him at the next family function if he remembers a diminutive Irish monk ninja.
This fool surely won't proceed with litigation? Dressing like a ponce and with that 70's THEM 'tache? And with no actual proof (or circumstantial or anecdotal evidence) of military service? And a clearly purchased and lapsed title?
I await the particulars of his claim and the subsequent evisceration of it with interest.
Perhaps in the litigious USofA his claims will be given some credence.....His 'Title' alone should impress the hell out of any Judge and jury in Buttf@#! Alabama.
Let's just hope he doesn't turn up in full fig with gongs akimbo, even the august Supreme Court could be swayed by his shysters if that daunting spectacle turned to.
What's up with the FBI National Academy connection? I can't decide if it's a not for profit organization under the auspices of the FBI or just a school using it's location near the Quantico gang to draw students.
I cannot seem to find the reference by Mr. Shortt to the FBI National Academy in this thread or the links so it is a bit unclear what he was refering too. I do know there is a very legitimate school run by the FBI called The FBI National Academy. It is not a non-profit spinoff but part of the FBI. All participants have to have been law enforcement officers for 5 continuous years. It is open to LEO's from all states and many countries. The people I know who attended the FBI National Academy were all superior officers in police departments. I understand that the courses are rigourous and that being a FBI NA graduate is very helpful for promotion to senior positions.
I have no way of knowing if Mr Shortt is actually a graduate but given the many things he says he has done I have my doubts that he would meet the 5 years of continuous service as a LEO. I also suspect that if he is falsely claiming to be a graduate the FBI would be a bit perturbed,
