Drizzle, Drizzle we dream of drizzle!! Unfortunately we had to give up today when the box disintegrated during torrential rain doing house to house collections!! The box has been repaired and rain proofed with Harry black maskers and will be back out tomorrow.Originally Posted by blue-sophist

For what it's worth a lady came to my house today collecting door to door for the appeal, and appeared suprised when I payed her sufficient for 2. Sad thing was after I explained I was a serving soldier she was no longer suprised. Pretty ropey considering the supposed shift in public opinion...
they do not star at morrisons till sunday,,, sainsburys only allow a week,,(next week)Originally Posted by Mr-D

I have had a few people take a slack handful of poppies, stickers, crosses etc then plop a few coppers in the tin but there is no minimum donation and every little helps.
The really annoying thing about doing door to door is when your approach to the house is clearly seen through a window by someone in the house (and I make sure the collection tin and box are very prominent as I’m walking around to ensure that people don’t think I’m selling double glazing etc) and the householder ignores you when you knock. If they don’t want to give/have already given then a no thanks (or even a feck off!) is better than being ignored.

Well Mr or Mrs BB I can assue you of this, you would not be ignored at my house, and for what you do I doff my hat
TDF Out

It's a mixed World.
Today we've had people throwing £10 in the collecting bucket and walking quietly away; people donating £5 for one poppy; and others shopping for metal pins and stuff and handing over £70+ ...
And others who give 20p.
Not everyone has money to give.
All donations are VERY gratefully received.
Not seen a street seller in medway yet, Somerfields have the boxes on the counter, but Morrisons not any yet.
I did ask, but they said, "I dont think we are doing it this year"
Like its something that changes with the stock list!

My poppies from a shop in Merton Road.
Very odd.

Centrail Milton Keynes - 4 teams of veterans at different spots round the shopping centre with not just a tray of poppies and the collecting tin but tables set up, Union Flags and chestfuls of medals.
Lots of people wearing them as well, and surprisingly I think there were more teenagers of chav age wearing them than there were people of my own age group (30's)
Death may be certain, but comms aren't.
