Re: Lack of Poppy Sellers?
I worked today, Saturday and last Saturday in the Brittania Centre in Hinckley.
Last week the Local ACF (9/12th.QRL) worked until 13.00, they brought back 14 heavy tins and they were out in the streets.
This week it was the Sea Cadets. on shifts fom 09.00 until 15.00, same result, full tins.
I had £5/£10 and £20 notes put in tins on our table.
I feel more than last year that the Afghanistan coverage on TV has brought it home to people.
I wear my old beret with Bays badge, blazer and bays tie.
I enjoy it, meet people I haven't seen for years and many new ones.
But not allowed to stick the pins in..........not safe........funny ,they let me drive a tank at 17!
My colleague, ATS ambulance driver 1941, took charge of the pins......pity ,one of the perks was pinning poppies on young ladies!
We had many requests for the enamel pin brooch poppies but sold out days ago.
The bad news is.....a packet of 100 pin brooches was stolen at Earl Shilton from a RBL stall. That's at least £100 we don't get.

Had a nice moment this morning while gathering in Collecting Boxes ... The OH is making her way out of Toddy's Bar with the Boxes, and blokes keep stopping her to put more money in. They had already had an extra Box provided because they had given so much and filled one.

Re: Lack of Poppy Sellers?
I was out selling poppies in Wigton, Cumbria with the local detachment of ACF and the donations from the local people were outstanding. We had 4 tins between the 12 of us and they were pretty full by the time we knocked it on the head at 2pm having started at 10 am. Every year the RBL ask us if we could help and the cadets volunteer unquetionably. Even folk who were wearing poppies were donating, we had some of the old dears giving sweets to the cadets and at least 1 kind cafe owner provided hot drinks when the rain reared its ugly head.

Bumping this thread. I wondered if it might be useful to use this thread as a ref point so we know where to find poppy sellers or to show which shops/organisations have a tin on their counter. Work in Liverpool City Centre & can't find any yet but have seen people wearing them.

Cheers for that. Have been PMed ref sellers & restrictions on dates & the licenses from local authourities. I asked the stunner who is wearing one at work where she got hers. An old fella is outside Moorfield Station in LCC apparently. Good on him for selling & her for wearing it. Gave me a good enough reason to speak to her.........& smell her (see the NAAFI thread!!)
