Fantastic. Some idiot runs with this story, fueled with a delusion that it was used as a private army for the National Front. Then again, the White Nationalists seem interested now. The link between then and now? Cretins at the top allowing such things to happen.
You've tempted me back with this.

You're right about the feared link with right-wing extremists. Subversion was still a hot issue in Callaghan's era. You should change your name to Perry Mason.
Oh - you are back. Any updates to give on how LoF has sorted itself out?

I was a member for a while, but I got fed up with it and put my effort into the TA. The LOF seems to be no better than when I left. It's still going to hell in a handcart.

Nice to see you're still alive V_M.

Given that there has been a major calamity in Haiti which surely warrants the massed ranks of Frontiersmen with their vital civil contingency skills and considerable resources, when will we be regaled with Legion of Frontiersmen tales of derring do in this stricken country?

    I won't hold my breath.

Odd looking bloke in a Cherokee 140 arrived at my local airfield not that 140's are odd however the bloke in the left hand seat was wearing a bone dome and nomex flying suit with lots of patches and wings. Interested me to the extent that I stopped washing ancient aircraft and quipped to the bloke in question that I heard that defence cuts were going to be tough but a 140 was taking it a bit far, answer “I am a aircraft commander with the Legion of Frontiersmen supporting the Civil Air Patrol now where do I book in as I am on CAP mission” answer the big yellow square with the big black C is the giveaway.

Did he remind you of any particular film (couldn't find a Gert Frobe shot)?

I assume from the mention of CAP we are dealing with a septic sub-variety?

Assume he refered to "Civil Air Patrol" and not Combat Air Patrol, well not in a Cherry Tree 140 as they are alittle under gunned.

Re: Legion of Frontiersmen II - Return of the Jedis

News from overseas. Just checked the news section of the LoF IOC site, last updated Feburary the 9th. Seems their German comrades have been enjoying a spot of diving, under the guise of an exercise in Croatia no doubt.
Below that the Commandant General and the Chief-of-Staff 'inspected' the newly erected tiled portrait of HRH Princess Catherine of Braganza with a Father Mariana in Portugal.

That's all, tune in next week for more fun and frolics.
    [hr]

It's also kinda entertaining to search LoF members on Google. Take their Surgeon General, Colonel Paul A. Dreschnack MD, for example. A Google search informs me that he could not only be a plastic surgeon in New Orleans but a Dermatologist in Louisiana. A more interesting - and relevant link - is that Dr. Dreschnack here is also the Officer of the General Counsel for Philanthrophic Affairs for The Imperial Order of the Dragon of Annam .

Well, it would certainly put me off any form of treatment from a Dr who chooses to outnumber his bona fide qualification with the fake 'Surgeon General' and 'Colonel.' Sort of an integrity thing I guess....

The ring he ordered is gay and a little Rupert tells me that it's 'horribly wrong' (something about bloody Americans not having enough history to understand about signet rings and their need to be engraved in reverse.)

Interesting comment about the General on the website of the French wing of the IOC. French IOC

A former army paratrooper colonel of her majesty (sic). Funny there's no mention of such a Commission in the London Gazette.

Didn't we establish (posts or threads passim) that Donnelly had been W02/SSgt somewhere? I'll have a wander and look the ginger shortarrse up...
