Ok' He is a complete chopper. To say he has not done HM FORCES any favours is an understatment .What he said is very true ,however its ironic it coming from his mouth and not that of a soldier. We go and do what we are ordered. He is on his way out its the next fecker we should worry about.

Re: Tony Blair - Read This You Cnut.
Well said, RFUK! Unfortunately I don't think there is a snow balls chance in hell that Bliar will lose any sleep or be haunted by his traitorous and criminal acts. He is so far removed from reality that he really thinks he is doing a good job. He reminds me of the last days of Hitler, moving imaginary armies around the map. On BBC South West the other night he seemed to be geuinely shocked when an ex-Coldstream Guardsman told him about the total lack of after care for soldiers with PTSD. Perhaps he was shocked that someone had the guts to tell him the truth. He is either a fcukin good actor or totally mental!
Ps. Hooks you are a twat!

Re: Tony Blair - Read This You Cnut.
Well done RFUK - my sentiments entirely.
and to quote Col Nathan Jessop (with a few changes)
"Mr Blair, we live in a world that has walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with guns. Whose gonna do it? You? You, Mr Blair? We have a greater responsibility than you could possibly fathom. You weep for your party, and you ruin the forces as well as every other deserving cause. You have that luxury.
You have the luxury of not knowing what we know. And our existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives. You don't want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want us on that wall, you need use on that wall.
We use words like honour, code, loyalty. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punchline. We have neither the time nor the inclination to explain ourselves to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom that we provide, and then questions the manner in which we provide it. We would rather you just said thank you, and went on your way,
Otherwise, Mr Blair I suggest you pick up a weapon, and stand a post and see what your soldiers have to endure.I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to someone who rises and sleeps under the very blanket of freedom of which I provide and then questions me in the manner in which I provide it - I would rather they said thank you and went on their way
At my signal, unleash hell, FB R4 until LSM

If Blair's right, so am I.
On the part of Prime Ministers, they need to accept that they are volunteers and assassination may be part of what they are called upon to face.

I am not patronising anyone, and I agree with some of whats being said. What I am saying is that if thought the descisions that our leader makes are morally wrong, and that his policies ultimately put me in a position where I was enforcing these descisions, then I would hang my boots up and leave. Its like an animal rights protester working in guinnae pig breeding farm for fcuk sake.

Re: Tony Blair - Read This You Cnut.
Unfortunately it is a common comment. I have found that, when arguing about how bloody awful conditions there must be (Iraq & Afghanistan) - I left 20'odd years ago, so can only imagine - most people say that that is the course that they chose. Today, people have no conception of ability to accept discipline, commitment to mates except when they are out yobboing (?!), or a sense of duty. If this sounds "Old Fogyeish", well so be it! I did a few tours in NI in the late 70's and can remember the same sort of reaction when back home. Kipling cames to mind!

Hooks
If we all fecked off when we didn't agree with something, we wouldn't have successes like Kosovo and Sierra Leone to mention but two now would we? Military service is not like some menu you can choose from at will.

Hooks I don't think you really get the drift. There is a big difference between signing on to defend one's country and being deployed to defend Bush's share of the oil market!!

Re: Tony Blair - Read This You Cnut.
The worst aspect of Bliar's comment is that he obviously doesn't understand that "on the part of the military", we DO accept that conflict and casualty are part of what we are called upon to face. Every day, without complaining, from the day we take the Queen's shilling until the day we transfer to the reserve, or end up in Selly Oak minus a limb or worse.
He appears to have misinterpreted the barrage of abuse from serving and retired senior officers (as I image that the implied "lack of acceptance" refers to) as being unwilling to be put in harms way, which it is not. Quote: "Speaking against a backdrop of complaints about the dire state of military accommodation and a general lack of resources, Mr Blair acknowledged the armed forces were being asked to do much more than anticipated." Not just "anticipated", Mr Bliar, try using words like "reasonable" and "sustainable" to end that sentence.
What he must understand, and Brown (and even Cameron) after him, is that the Army and the other Services must not be abused, so that we are still fit for purpose after we have faced the "conflicts" that he has put in front of us. That is what everyone is complaining about, Mr Bliar. Your comment is beneath even you. What do you know about surfing, Major? You're from goddamn New Jersey.

RFUK you are a star Sir, I hope some journos and lackeys do read this and I hope (In Vain) that there will be an answer and what is more some recompense. ( Not, I hasten to add financial) This man is supposedly a man of faith, all he seems to worship is the mighty dollar.

This, in essence, sums it up very nicely (apart from the dig at Hooks).
