Don’t say, “It’s been a good day” till sundown.
    Don’t say, “She’s a good wife” till she’s buried.
Don’t say, “It’s a good sword” till you’ve tested it.
Don’t say, “She’s a good girl” till she’s married off.
Don’t say, “The ice is safe” till you’ve crossed it.
Don’t say, “The beer is good” till you’ve drunk the last of it.

    From Hávamál, a Viking poem.

    Clicked mate.
If your boy is serious about getting into bushcraft and living off the land. Allow me to reccomend the two Collins pocket books:
    1 Food for free
    2 The SAS survival guide.
Both handy little books and not too expensive. I especially like food for free as it is far easier and more practical to identify and use edible plants, than it is to do any kind of hunting such as snaring or survival fishing like nightlining, as those activities are normally illegal in most of the UK, not to mention difficult to successfully do.
The SAS survival guide also contains tips on navigation, shelter building, poisonous plants and a host of other stuff.
Political correctness, A discredited and dogmatic ideology, the antithesis of free speech,
championed only by those who stand to gain from division and disunity.

I can agree with the sas survival guide, I got given a copy (not the pocket version) when I was a kid. I tried out loads of the techniques in there and all met with a varying degree of sucess.

Everyone deserves a second chance, except those who try to shaft me and fail.

We are the Pilgrims, Master, we shall go always a little further,

It may be beyond the Blue mountain barred with snow,

Across that Angry or Glittering Sea.

Thanks so far and oops did I bump?

Ivan and Phatom- he has read my copy (got it for Xmas when I was 10) from cover to cover. Walking in our wood is sometimes a bit dangerous. However he got a rabbit a couple of weeks ago and did his first gutting.

if you do torrents then there are gigabytes of stuff out there we dont get to see here like dual survival and man woman wild, I've got 200gb or so of stuff filed away to watch and read when I have time.

and you tube is full of home made vids from folks who definately need to do a methods of instruction course.

one of the best for getting the message across is ron hood and his missus the cave lady but the americans do things differently in so many ways beyond guns with everything.

content wise on uk tv then bear grylls has more to teach than ray mears but you have to put up with the abseiling from a helicopter using knicker elastic every now and again.

if you dont do torrents then I can probably burn him up a mountain of dvds
what the world needs is an enema, make that two - just to give it a sense of purpose.

US electoral democracy is just a structured system of legalised bribery.

a senior Chinese officer has said, “all the great nations in the world own aircraft carriers – they are symbols of a great nation”. That’s why China has just commissioned its first. By the same token, to opt for a “carrier gap” of some years is to abandon your responsibilities.

I also had a tactical dump whilst out training yesterday, don't know if that's going to help at all.
