Glad it wasn't there when I was at the Lanch. I'd have taken a perverse pleasure in repeatedly trying to get in. Do remember rolling up in the SU bar at the Lanch after an OTC training evening still in uniform and pissing off the strongly pro-IRA secretary : "Flaggie, you killed any of me countrymen recently?" "Fraid not, they all ran away."

No grill. All microwaved to buggery or baked under the lamps on the counter IIRC.
Haven't had an accident in years. See a lot in my rear view mirror though.

Most people wouldn't have noticed if I'd been wearing fishnet stockings and a basque. Other than this guy, the (rare) comments were on the lines of interest as to what the OTC was about, how connected with college, etc. Didn't make a regular habit of going in there in uniform, if only because the mess was better and cheaper than the SU bar ... though it did have the slight drawback of being in Birmingham.

Also, that case pre-dated the 1950s race relations act which almost certainly would have been a factor to influence the findings in favour of the plaintiff. The pivotal factor is the contractual offer which was accepted by the hotel & then renegaded, the hotelier was not 'prosecuted' (its a civil case) for not upholding some ancient & medieval honour law of what constitutes a traveler and not providing a bed for the night as you inferred...bottom line if a hotelier has good reason to refuse he can.

ref the police, they would only get involved for a public order (breach of peace) infringement ie if the traveler refused to leave, not to mediate a contractual dispute.
That isn't in dispute. But like I said, if the traveller was within his legal rights, the Police would be at fault to intervene on behalf of the Hotel.

Also, if you had read my previous properly, I stated that a traveller can't be refused by a Hotel/Inn unless he is breaking the law for example...In effect, you are agreeing with what I said in the first place.

Anyway, I haven't the inclination to argue with a stacker1 clone who can't read posts properly....take your time, it's all here, including travellers rights under Common Law. Don't forget that many of our laws are based upon Common Law especially the Hospitality industry.

I didn't say it was your fucking fault, I said I was blaming you.

he can if he has good reason do...my dispute was with the manner in which you paraphrased the 'law' intimating that it is an ancient right to be put up anywhere providing you'd traveled at least 1/4 of a mile

Not intimating..it is an ancient right, still upheld under Common Law. Providing the traveller gives no cause to be refused. That is really all I said.

You called it Bollocks and proceeded to take the piss.

I could copy and paste forever, but what would be the point as you obviously now get the point I was making.

Still a stuck record, I find it quite flattering that when I go out and have a life, shopping, eating and meeting real friends (not the imaginary ones that you have) and through all this you hang on for my every thread posting, my latest pronouncement, are you aiming for stalker of the year by any chance ?
