In the '60's and just finishing a long spell of Jungle-Bunnying, I was detailed off to escort an AWOL Commando [who had done a runner in Australia] back to the UK via trooping flight from Singapore and thinking ... why me?........ only to find that he and I had our own curtained off section, served meals first, first off the aircraft and whisked thru' customs when we arrived at London, managed to cadge a lift in the RN Patrols Tilly to Cosham where I lived. Turned out nice in the end.
