    Apologise to the boxheads and the fucking nips?

    More like remind them they were lucky to get off with a year of rape and pillage courtesy of ivan and a dose of instant sunshine respectively as a warning not to start their shit ever again.

    GAESO are not an organisation well regarded by serving Bde soldiers and officers, nor the majority ex-serving. It appears their latest rant falls nicely in line with Maoist lines on the future of the Gurkhas, amazing what a house in Pokhara will buy you politically. For those simple enough to pick their line up and run with it, your stupidity amuses.

    Why is anyone surprised? I am sure Mr Gyanraj Rai is a member in good standing of the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist) and is only following the government guidelines. Unless the latest Communist party of Nepal (Maoist) dictat changes things of course?

    The whole place is now run by a bunch of commies and you are surprised when they use propoganda against the western imperialist running dogs?

    Got to say I am bit suprised we still allow Gurkhas to even join anymore considering the political landscape at home. Bit like letting a couple of hundred citizens of the USSR to join up really.

    Your point is?

    Are you really saying that there is nothing political or at least diadactic about Mr Gyanraj Rais' statement?

    GAESO has quite a strong following, especially among the ex-servicement of the castes of western Nepal, the Gurungs, Tamangs and Magars. The Gurkha areas of western Nepal was where the Maoists were the strongest.

    However, because the Gurkha ex-service organisations, GAESO, BGWS, UBGEA and NESA are often at loggerheads, questions regarding their popularity will vary widely, depending on the allegiences of the group your respondent belongs to.

    Each group will, of course, accuse the other groups of being the ones ripping off ex-Gurkhas

    Internally too, GAESO have their fallings-out and Mr Gurung himself has some enemies;
    Padam Bahadur Gurung
    Organizing a press conference in the capital on Wednesday, some members of the Gurkha Army Ex-Servicemen Organization (GAESO) have demanded to call another convention accusing newly-elected President Padam Bahadur Gurung of collecting money illegally.

    In a statement issued on 18 April 2009, GAESO lawyer Gopal Siwakoti ‘Chintan,’ who has been involved in the Gurkha Justice Campaign for the last one decade, alleged that Mr Padam Bahadur Gurung had raised more than Rs 150 million from Gurkha veterans in the name of fighting for their residential visa status in the UK. He also claimed that GAESO had raised money from Gurkha veterans to fight legal battle though GAESO had received more than 100,000 pounds from the Legal Aid Fund set up by the British government.

    Mr Gurung has, however, dismissed such allegations against him as being ‘politically motivated.’ He said Rs 60,000 per head that GAESO was collecting from Gurkha veterans was ‘voluntary, not compulsory.’
    GAESO has an office in Aldershot and, along with BGWS, are the facilitators for Gurkhas with ILE settling in Aldershot. They claim to be registered as a charity but the number that they quote is not of the Charity Commissioners but simply a company registration.

    RPS578's description of them as 'a bunch of spivs' is as apt as ever but their influence shouldn't be under-estimated.
