WTF indeed! Where I work a person from a certain cutural tradition fried himself on a electricity substation. His two mates running away from the area got nicked on suspicion of murder. I think it was more disruption and a sense of humour on the part of the first attending peelers.
I mean, what was the defence going to be without admitting conspiracy to steal?
Don't think anything happened in the end, but it was nice to know they were binned up for a while. Smell was appalling, but there was a sense of immediate action justice.
Top, mr compliments to the Frau! I rarely go anywhere without my well-thumbed copy of Sugden's The Complete History of Jack the Ripper.
So as I said, I couldn't resist that. Sorry.
Back to the thievery.

Hi as a few know here I'm a CCTV op in a Warrington shitehole, sorry apparently its spelled "shopping centre". I work closely with the town cctv and have operated it myself. Warrington is not heavily covered by camera on the streets, Trans next time you are out in town count how many you can see, make a note of their positions and walk about a bit and see how often you can't see them because of trees or street furniture.
Also the cameras are not manned 24/7 due to budget cuts, but the girls and 1 fella that operate them come in early every Friday/Saturday night to cover the busy pint & fight nights for the extra couple of hours needed usually from 21:00 as they are due to start at 23:00.
We are often left with no cctv from 18:00 until they come in which means along with the budget cuts to police that the asbo kids are getting a damn sight cockier as their is no presence on the streets.
Where the plaque was located on the front of Babylon is a bit of a dead spot as the nearest camera is on the same side of the road.
see:
The team in town cctv have all been doing extra unpaid hours trawling footage looking for these bastards, which isn't helped by even staff in Babylon not being able to tie it down to roughly when its gone as its just part of the background and not something you pay much attention to.
Not a lot was made of the arrests last month in the news until this incident when it was mentioned in passing.
A lot of bad feeling towards the press at the moment as itv, sky & bbc all had crews pointing out a bad news story but not one mention on Thursday of the Queens visit to Warrington.
Would love the opportunity as would some of the police here. One of the advantages of the antique cctv in my place of work is the regular "system failure" meaning no footage of "accidents" or over enthusiastic restraint work......."Sinner251 - he pisses on tramps" The Snail
