Merchant Navy seamen were given the same treatment in WW2 their pay stopped the moment their ships were torpedoed by the Hun. Seems dispicable in this day and age.

Titanic survivors and crew had a visit from men in bowler hats claiming to represent HMG, keep quiet or be ruined/jailed seemed to be the threat that was made.
Bollocks, it wasn't galvanized. The wreck is disintegrating from corrosion; whether the lack of oxygen prevents 'rusting' I don't know but it will be a mound of corrosion products in another 100 years.

We need a Happy St Titanic Day thread to commemorate this every year.
Sorry, yes you are partly correct. The exterior was not galvanised. Substantively however the point stands. The steel does contain both Zinc and Manganese, both of which are consumed by microbes such as Halomonas titanicae. 'Rusticle' is sort of a misnomer. The chemical result is similar but the formation process is that of digestion and excretion in this case. At about two miles down oxygen levels drop to around 0.01%, far too low for extensive normal 'rusting'. Oh no here comes Higgs-Boson! We had better change the subject... So yes, a Happy Shit Boat Day to you too!

Rodney2qIn the career of glory one gains many things; the gout and medals, a pension and rheumatism....all of these fatigues experienced in your youth, you pay for when you grow old. Because one has suffered in years gone by, it is necessary to suffer more, which does not seem exactly fair.

I could not dig: I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
Mine angry and defrauded young?
