Whatever he gets it will have some pathetic minimum sentence attached that gives the system an excuse to release him early. 10 years but serve a minimum of 3. The answer to this one is really quite simple, a fucking good kicking; it should be in the statute books, sentence to be carried out by immediate relatives or a team of 12 peers, just like the jury that convicted him. Im sure they could quite easily find 12 volunteers to administer the sentence.

Lets hope he gets what he deserves inside,

GBH carries a maximum of 5 years. GBH with intent (which is what he's convicted of) carries a maximum of life imprisonment. That will mean he will do a minimum sentence before eligibility for parole. That won't automatically give him 1/3rd off for an early guilty plea and then half the sentence to be served inside.

It also won't mean he is automatically released after that minimum tariff. He has to convince a parole board that he is no longer a danger. He'll spend years in some pretty horrible places doing a lot of therapy work if there's any justice.

I rather hoped you might suggest the truck load of boulders were dropped on his head. Sorry, but this kind of case makes me chuck all the liberal sensibilities out. As far as I'm concerned this thing has nothing to offer life & I would not lose a moment's sleep if it just ceased to be, right now.
