Edit - sorry it II SS Panzer corps not the Wermacht but they picked up the name "The Crazy Heads" and it was due to them voluntarily choosing to stay in action as they had no family to return to.

Of course the BBC are always right and known throughout the world for their accuracy. I reckon the old boy who told this tale to some gullible reporter is the German equivalent of Tropper....
