This whole self righteousness from Rugby fans over football fans is an outdated joke.Football for the most part has changed you can drink in the ground before and at half time in games (apart from CL games) and where I usually go there is a lot of corporate hospitality types, often away fans sat next to us and I've never seen it once descend into violence. Outside the ground can be a different matter but the police are well drilled and don't tolerate any shit.It's very similar to Rugby games I've been to where they've tried to morph a sporting event into a pop concert and a fun family day out.

I blame Thatcher for 9/11 & 7/7. I also blame Chelsea for pretty much everything

I dont know what this blaming chelsea fc is all about? Chelsea also got the blame for the heysel deaths as well. why does everyone want to blame the chelsea fans for? it was the scousers trying to sneak in to the stadium that caused the problem for the police. The police as ive mentioned before just couldn`t cope.

I have changed my mind. Having watched a fair few hours of coverage, I think it was a shambles by those responsible for organising the event. It also looks as though a cover-up may have happened (although I consider a series of cock-ups as more likely).
Therefore I apologise for my previous flippant statements.

Interesting indeed, not only for the fact that a view that was Pushed out within minutes of the disaster happening has perpetuated and grown over the intervening years.
For those who wish to read more I would recommend this (probably not for some though
)
The Media View
The reporters at the ground knew there were “simply too many fans at oneend of the ground” but why this happened was an unanswered question.Shortly after the St John’s ambulance arrived on the pitch, the press weregiven a possible explanation. Graham Mackrell, SWFC’s Secretary and Safety Officer, told media sourcesthat a gate had been forced open and supporters had rushed in. The press then interviewed the FA’s Chief Executive, Graham Kelly, aboutthis allegation, and the possibility of “unauthorised entries” to the stadiumwas added to the emerging story. By 4:00pm the reported cause of the Disaster was as follows: “At ten tothree there was a surge of fans at the Leppings Lane End of the ground.The surge composed of about 500 Liverpool fans and the police say thata gate was forced and that led to a crush in the terracing area.’’This media explanation for the Disaster was relayed to millions, effectivelyforming the public perception and was based on what Lord JusticeStuart-Smith, in his later report, called “a disgraceful lie.”

You are ?
So you deliberately chose to use a misleading phrase as opposed to an accurate one.
Hmmm, enlightening.
But as Geo_ninja pointed out, if the Hillsborough incident really means any more than a good whine about their self-imposed victim status to the Liverpool fans, then logically they should know better, correct ?
Well it's provided no new insight but does confirm other observations.
Thanks.Apparently some moderators take themselves very, very seriously, and cannot abide posts such as:

Some comments are allegedly "very very nasty and uncalled for."
