Although JP may think Hull is the centre of the area, Humberside force area covers a lot of blue area and a libdem or conservative rep may do a lot better. I wonder if the local TV will give the same air time to the other candidates that they gave to JP tonight.

But politicians should be banned from taking part.

I was not going to vote in this as I think it's a lot of tosh but having JP stand is a good reason to vote for any one else.

So far there are only three candidates; a retired Inspector from the force, the Lord Mayor of dubious character linky & Baron Hardup.

Spoilt for choice.

the 5k deposit put me off standing. Are they not the ones who want labour backing/official candidate as opposed to independent candidates?

There's been no mention of any other party's nominees or independants.

Apparently local parties are worried about how they are going to pay for campaigns which will cover huge new electoral areas, and for jobs about which the general public know very little. Most MPs, frankly, including a lot of Tories, think the policy of elected PCCs is plain bonkers.

And the unasked question, What if on two people turn up to vote?
