The average shrink charges £60-80 per hour.
This is what grips my shit, Professional people making a nice living off the backs of veterans.
Combat stress inc are PTSD masters and what they do not know about this condition simply does not exist, so you could well argue that nothing will be gained out of this £1 million spend other than to fund the lifestyle of a few of MOD's favourite shrinks.
There are no cures known to man regarding PTSD, however, there are many skills that one can learn in knowing how to cope and manage with it on a daily basis. If you find me intolerable at my worst, then you would not deserve me at my best.

A psychiatrist isn't going to work for free, would you?

And by the time the government of the day, doesn't matter which flavour, has mismanaged the money and employed various consultants. I reckon there will be about £3.52, a furry boiled sweet, and a broken pencil left.

What are you on about?
Are you suggesting that only Combat Stress can treat veterans with PTSD? You're not another one of those people who think PTSD caused by operational service (as an example) needs to be treated differently to PTSD cause by a mugging, assault, car crash or visiting Yorkshire are you?
Psychiatrists are medical Doctors, psychologists will most likely have a PHd , CPNs will have been to university and are trained nurses and therapists will most likely have either degrees or a whole host of specialist courses. Do you think all these people should work for free because this involves veterans? If you want to get the best people for the job then you need to be able to pay to enough to attract the best.
The article didn't say how Labour would want to spend this money, but whether it goes to a charity like Combat Stress, is used to improve services in the DCMHs or in some other way, this small amount is still better than nothing.

I agree.
Surely it doesn't matter if sir dresses to the left or the right, this is still a step in the right direction.
I have heard a 'mental health time bomb' being discussed. I've personally witnessed some battleshock cases, on Telic & Herrick, some presented with severe physiological symptoms.
£1m is not enough

Perhaps, but their hearts are in the right place. I mean, £1m is nearly one fifth of the amount the honourable members vote themselves in "Parliamentary catering subsidy" each year.
The subsidy is paid to the 19 bars and restaurants within the Palace of Westminster so that MPs on a six figure package can buy meals and, most importantly, booze at half the price the rest of us would pay. As a pensioner, I am proud to be paying tax so that millionaires like Dave, Gordon Brown, George Osborne and David Milliband can have a cheap piss up followed by some silver service in the member's restaurant without having to trouble the cashpoint.
Sometimes, I get very close to shouting the "C" word, even though I'm sitting here on my own.ArRSe is the Hotel California - You can log-out any time you like, but you can never leave!

We could well use another Combat Stress centre as we only have three to cater for the whole of the UK, Knocking walls down for fun and converting rooms into other rooms to justify the need for charity funding is madness, we all know that there will be a tidal wave of patents hitting these centres soon, so instead of adopting the new current policy of bumming the old blokes off who have had x amount of admissions i think that any moneys should be directed at a new treatment centre.
If you find me intolerable at my worst, then you would not deserve me at my best.
