The problem isn't the Bible, it's the people that interpret the Bible that are the problem. As Eodmatt has pointed out, it is too inconsistent to be considered a rule book as where in one part of it you can find something "thou shalt not do" (generally in the OT), you can probably find another bit (probably in the NT) that says "oh, actually, that's ok".

On this particular subject, I have to agree with Pigshyt. If it's left up to the individual vicar/priest/whatever to decide whether or not they will perform the ceremony, those that want to get married in a church are much more likely to find someone who is happy to unite them, regardless of their partner's gender.

So if some gays are so fixated on getting married in a 'Church', why don't they form their own Church? Nothing stopping them.

I'm not in the UK at present or you'd never see me post before 0900hrs.

What's the fixation with a church wedding anyway? Mrs. Rutar and I were married by a civil celebrant and we're just as married as if we'd had our wedding in a church.

As Sunnoficarus said there's nothing stopping those inclined to start their own church. Or go humanist perhaps?

I do have some belief in marriage and God a civil partnership doesn't cut it.

    Church of the Sacred Phallus?

Romans used to worship willies and the Hindus still do.

    And as for the Japanese!

When Leviticus was penneth, it was said that there be all kindeth of sins - stuffing your love truncheon up another's hoop to be but one.

Lest we studyeth the texts too closely, we may befall the assumption that a lot of the judgements of the holy see and their kiddy fiddling counterparts in the other club of full dress wearing men are a bit of pick'n'mix as the rules have evolved over the centuries.

Jesus, Joseph, Mary and all things holy - it's off to purgatory for me...
The term bugle originates from the French word bugleret, which was derived from the Latin buculus, meaning young bull.

Why can't a same-sex couple marry? Why do we have to have what is to all intents and purposes a business arrangement that is known as a Civil Partnership? Whether a religious ceremony or a registry office a marriage is seen as a coupling of two people who love each other and want to spend their life together. When I complete forms for this, that or the other, then I want to tick the box that says 'Married' not 'In A Civil Partnership'. My OH is my wife. I am her wife. Not my 'Civil Partner'.

It may seem like semantics to some people, but it means something to us that it affects.

That was one of my points, they shouldn't have to be forced by legislation, they should have a bit of sense.
