After reading your claim, I've just looked at the BNP manifesto, (thanks for that, not), and there is not a single use of the words 'gay' or 'homosexual' in the entire document.
So again, why are you talking about the British political debate on gay marriage with reference to an American Christian organisation?

I was under the impression that marriage, according to the various religions, was a blessing on a union of a man and a woman who would then cohabit and produce children. These religions were formed in tribal times (the larger the tribes, the more powerful they become)
That a union of two men or two women cannot produce children, there being no parthenogenesis in humans, religions tend to be against same sex marriage.
Apart from the inability of same sex couples to have children normally (i.e. via coitus), there seems to be little in law to differentiate between a civil partnership and marriage (a religious institutuon).
As mentioned by others above I see no problem.

It's a source of political power, leading your people out of oppression. If Ben Summerskill said to his followers, "You know, I think we've pretty much cracked this equality thing. We've got the state officially recognising our partnerships, people prosecuted for gay-basing or even calling for gays to be done down. There's an equal age of consent and gross indecency charges are a thing of the past. Let's pack up and get on with our lives" then he'd be shutting down his entire career.

Last time I looked, they had a policy called "The Citizens' Assault Rifle". Every adult in Britain was to be issued with a SA80 (sorry - no option to trade it in for a SLR). That would have enlivened Saturday nights somewhat. You have to love the BNP - just for the sheer comedy value.
Back on thread. What would be the difference in a civil partnership ceremony at the registry office and a civil wedding ceremony at the registry office?ArRSe is the Hotel California - You can log-out any time you like, but you can never leave!

Is Tatchell still trying to get the age of consent for gay sex reduced to 14? Do you think this is a point of principle for him or does he just live next door to a school?
I can't help thinking how happy I'd be if I had a 14 year old son who came home from school bleeding from the arrse because he'd had a "consensual sexual encounter" with one of his teachers.ArRSe is the Hotel California - You can log-out any time you like, but you can never leave!

He has stopped apparently. But it was alright for him to want to be allowed the right to bum 14 year old kids because he said the age of consent should be lower for hetrosexual as well.
Hopefully the cunt will go to Moscow again this year for pride.

As I understand it a civil partnership confers on a homosexual couple exactly the same legal status as a civil marriage does on a heterosexual couple. So is the issue simply the word 'marriage,' or is it the desire to have some sort of religious element?
If the latter, that's confusing, because most major religions have traditionally believed that homosexuality is a Bad Thing - to the extent that the more extreme adherents would kill homosexuals or even deny them a room in a B&B. So is it the Groucho Marx thing - do homosexuals want to belong to a club that doesn't want them as members, or only as closeted members?
